Angelou writes about the excitement that she felt as she prepared to graduate from her school in Stamps, Georgia. The excitement was not felt by Angelou alone, it was buzzing among the entire graduating class as well as the members of the community. Angelou discusses the hard work that had gone into preparing for the graduation. Her mother went to great lengths to embellish her graduation dress with a “braided pattern” on the sleeve, and the pastor preached on about the graduation the Sunday before. Her brother even saved his money and bought her a gift to honor her very special day.

In the beginning of his speech, Obama says: “I imagine there are some seniors out there who are feeling pretty good right now, with just one more year to go“(pg.
It is not the end but the beginning of something new. For Johnson, her family and her community they were anxious, happy, and couldn’t just wait for the big day to come. They kept busy preparing for what I would call one of the most importance days of their lives. Almost everyone in the school took part or helped in some way except the graduating class. The importance of graduation is to help you realize that after all the hard work, effort, and dedication there is always a result and that is graduating.
They had enjoyed their experience and wanted to do more for the shelter. Not only is community service fun and rewarding, it also looks great on a resume or college application. Sometimes community service is even required for high school graduation. Last year in my life skills class my teacher often talked about community service and making a difference. One of papers we had to write was about if we thought requiring students at a university to complete 75 hours of community service was a good idea.
Returning to school has been a dream of mines since I graduated from high school. The different job opportunity and having a better income to support me and my family would make me so happy. Quitting my job of 14 years motivated me to return to school to earn a degree. I want to have a stable and good paying job so that I can save for my son’s college as well. Jobs are hard to find these days, especially when they are seeking a High School diploma or a College degree of some sort.
OL 125 Professor Heinonen February 23, 2014 As I walk down the aisle at commencement at Southern New Hampshire University, I know there will be a handful of people that will join me on this day. I’m sure there will be some tears shed and huge smiles on their faces as I accept my diploma. I know without a shadow of a doubt that my mother, my two amazing children, my grandmother, God willing she is still alive, and my best friend will all be there to join me in my accomplishment. I know that my mother and my grandmother will shed tears of joy as I accept my diploma. My children, although will not fully understand the importance of this day for their mother, they will undoubtedly be proud of me.
About half of the people in your class probally wheren't excited to stand for the pledge this morning (or afternoon.) However, men and woman have died for the freedom and rights that we have today, so lets show them the respect they deserve. Standing for the pledge should be mandatory in public schools. Standing for the pledge unites Americans. We all live here, we’re all taking part of the community, going to school together and even grocery shopping together.

Motivated to earn a degree, I did not let that stop me from achieving my dreams. I came prepared and eager to learn in my class every day. After one month, my high school counselor told me great news, “Based on your translated transcript, you have course credits more than we require, and based on your current grades, you performed well. You are ready to be in the senior level.” Given the opportunity, I did not waste my time lingering around. I asked one of my teachers where she graduated and she said proudly, “University of Michigan”.
Through this program, teachers return to their school with more knowledge, determination, and commitment to change their students' lives. Freedom Writers Foundation Website, an article titled “About the Scholarship Program”, noted, “The Freedom Writers Foundation awards scholarships each year to first-generation high school seniors and college students who have demonstrated remarkable academic promise despite considerable odds.” This program supports students in many ways. By providing the students a scholarship, they continue to learn and they have a shot at becoming what they want. Students through this program also receive support to earn a degree from college.
