Middle ages had destroyed people dreams and forced them to live s meaningless pattern of life. Renaissance period brought progression change beauty. In fact the word renaissance mean rebirth. Renaissance was begin in Italy around was begin in itlay around1350 and spared through Europe until about 1600 with many new things. Renaissance is one of those historic events that needs to be understand not just for what it achieved but also for how it came to be in the first place.
At others, however, he seems to want something else, or is genuinely dissatisfied with his life and with the way he is. Later in the story, The Misfit says he wishes he would have been there with Jesus, then he may not have turned out to be the kind of person he is, a malicious cold serial killer. The question is whether these are actually beginnings of faith, or whether it is just a wish. The author clearly addresses the personal struggle of faith and being stubborn and not wanting to accept any help from anyone. The reader almost feels sorry for The Misfit because he seems so confused and helpless.
Curley has obviously decided it is not worth fighting him but before he leaves he instructs Lennie as he still wants to intimidate him and show him that he has an authoritive figure. In this extract Curley has clearly unnerved Lennie as Lennie constantly seems to be in some discomfort for example “Lennie squirmed under the look and shifted his feet nervously”. John Steinbeck does well to produce powerful imagery by simply using the word “squirmed”. This shows that Lennie is embarrassed and does not know what to do and this causes tension as Curley senses his advantage while George is worried about a possible confrontation. Another example is “Lennie twisted with embarrassment”.
His metaphors span over whole paragraphs, for example the one about God's wrath being drawn and held over the hearts of sinners. This metaphor shows that God has the power to attack sinners but that he saves them with forgiveness. Later, Edwards compares sinners to spiders and serpents, creatures hated by humans just as God hates sinners. This shows his listeners how poorly God thinks of them. Edwards uses figures of speech to make his message easier to understand, which allows his listeners to relate to it much more than they usually
The Pharisees and Sadducees accused him of not following the Jewish law because they felt that what he shared with the people was going against the traditional Jewish scripture and they felt that he deserved to be punished. I found this very unfair, just because Jesus had his own way of going about things and it wasn’t “their” way they felt that he was wrong. Now a days we all have our own views and opinions and we definitely would not have been hung on a cross nor would we have been treated as he was. I felt that his punishment was very serious, whether he was the messiah or not, no one deserves to be put to death for something of that matter. When I read that the crucifixion was a punishment that was usually given to people who committed crimes of thievery and other serious cases I became a little more upset.
And the next is that Ralph said my hunters are no good” (129). Jack is slowly turning the littluns away from Ralph and twisting his actions and words to show that Ralph is really the bad guy. Although this does seem desperate it does work on the littluns because at this point of time due to all of the fears, the role models arguing, and the mixed messages they are receiving they are very open to any opinion. It is evident that they do not want to turn on Ralph though when Jack is about to leave because they don’t want to be the only ones who do it, and Ralph still holds their super ego in place. “Hands up,’ said Jack strongly, ‘whoever wants Ralph not to be chief?’ …… ‘I’m going off by myself.
He states that it is either Christianity went wrong or our instincts went bad. He believes that our instincts have gone wrong. He goes on to say that we have been lied to and that our sexual desires is in the same state of any of our other natural desires and if we stop hiding it then things will be alright. Many people think that Christian Chastity is impossible, but when one really puts there mind to it they will be surprised at what they can overcome. Lewis then goes on to say that we cannot simply do it on our own strength but to go to God for our strength.
He understands that he was blind and made wrong decisions but at this point he is about to face his consequence of death. Before Macbeth is going to fight Macduff, he finally see’s this and should not fight because he will loose and pay the price for his blindness. He tells Macduff that he will not fight but Macduff thinks otherwise. “...That keep the word of promise to our ear, and break it to our hope. Ill not fight with thee.
This is exactly what happened after the Crusades and split of the Roman Catholic church. A rebirth of ideas was their outcome. The most drastic change took place in art. Such people as Giotto, Tommaso Masaccio, and Filippo Brunelleschi created new perspectives. With these new perspectives came a new age of art within the Renaissance.
What does ‘RENAISSANCE’ mean? The term renaissance is derived from the French word meaning ‘REBIRTH’. It is used to describe this phase of European history because many of the changes experienced between the 14th and 16th centuries were inspired by a revival of the classical art and intellect of Ancient Greece and Rome. Much of the art, architecture, literature, science and philosophy that surfaced during the Renaissance was so reminiscent of this ancient past, that is seemed as through Europe was indeed reborn during the late Middle Ages. That’s why; the Renaissance was a time of great social and cultural changes in Europe.
