This gives them a lot of hope and makes them feel wanted. During this time period many workers were needed. Immigrants would take jobs for less money and more hours than an American would. They would do anything to find a job. They would work hard to succeed because they had less than the American citizens.
Here you have to have some education and a good paying job and wear brand name clothes but there are some citizens who may look high class but they just dress well to make other people assume that they are. A lot of native people have to get time off their jobs do to traditional ceremonies and they end up putting it behind them because they need the money. Today education is important to getting a good paying job which puts a lot of pressure on the youth. Many are afraid that their culture and traditions will soon die out. The parents today tell their children to do well in school and bring that education back to help out their people.
However, in some cases, there can be instances when the immigrant leaving the country and family is a bad thing for the family being left behind. For the most part, immigrants who come to the US work hard and get the education and money they came for. As a result, immigrants can send remittances back to their home country to support and help their family. They can also travel back to their home country and even share the knowledge they learned in The United States to create their own business, start their own company, or work for companies already in the country with greater knowledge and experience in that particular field. The same case where an immigrant leaves their country for good intentions can have bad effect on their family back home.
This attitude undermines our best interests.” After we graduate from university, a lot of people want to find a stable job and then fight for it. Year by year, they lost their passion to play football or join some clubs instead they have to earn money for their family and children. The “A”students put their all time to study, then get a great certificate from top university. But they don't know how to choose a suitable work and what kind of life they want. They didn't spend time to socialize to make friends nor extended interest, this is a big problem to their future life.
Week 3 Checkpoint- Modern Challenges in Immigration I have heard people say that America is “the land of opportunity”. That people come to America from all over the world to earn a better life for themselves and their families. When their country is only offering extremely low paying jobs and poor health care they choose to come to America to earn more money and get better doctors for their children. With the opportunities like that available to them, who wouldn’t want to come to America? There is however one major downfall of trying to do the right thing and becoming a legal resident; the cost of the applications and other fees are outrageous.
This movement was a social movement wherein Christians were urged to improve social conditions for those less fortunate. | The movement helped some of the poor population, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to close the huge gap between the rich and the poor. | Today there is still a gap between rich and poor, the upper class and low classes are perfect examples. Today many people are still without homes or jobs, living under bridges, and starving. But on the other hand, tons of celebrities have millions of dollars with nice houses and fast cars.
Well as mentioned before I was a single mother so traveling as a flight attendant often my son did not see me much. This was something I could not continue doing for the rest of my life so, I decided to make a career change and this is where I applied at Argosy. My son has always been my automatic push to better myself. I knew that at the beginning of changing careers it was going to be a hard one due to financial hardships. I would work fewer hours at a new job which means less money.
These men, women, and children suffered much and lost too much. The family in this movie shows that life is never easy and gets sometimes to hard to bear, but when they stick together; it made the burdens easier to bear. The Great Depression in the end had a toll on anyone who lived during it, but it gave people a sense of perspective of how they should live their lives and what matters the most. Because in the end, money, bills, and other worldly things are not as important as the meaning of being a family because in just a blink of eye, those things could be taken from you and everything that means something to you will be
For instance, they may be able to start up with a new idea. | During recession, Innocent’s confidence will get low as people aren’t demanding for their products as they demanded before. This leads Innocent to cut down on production because they no longer need to make many goods as they used to. Because people are not buying as many products so their sales will decrease. By this time, Innocent might struggle to pay wages so they need cut down staffs as they no longer need them.
Fortunately, “low-skilled immigrants usually fill gaps in American labor markets and generally enhance domestic business prospects rather than destroy jobs; this occurs because of an important phenomenon, the presence of what are known as “complementary” workers, namely those who add value to the work of others.” (Cowen, 2010) In addition to investing and starting new businesses, immigrants filled in jobs of different pay-rate and skill spectrums where a high percentage of Americans do not want to fill. Many jobs that requires long set of working hours are often taken by immigrants. Americans are least likely to take low-skilled jobs and it is the immigrants who take those jobs. Thus, it is often found that majority of low-skilled jobs are taken by immigrants. With less opportunity and benefits for them, immigrants are encouraged to take any job available to them.
