Immigration reform is a controversial issue in the United States. I will be focusing on the economic benefits of immigration reform in the United States. Most Americans would be surprised to learn about the substantial benefits of immigration reform to the United States economic growth and prosperity, and thus our ability to reduce our federal budget deficit over the next 10 years. Although the majority of Americans agree that our current immigration system is in need of a change, there remains a lack of understanding about the real effects that new immigrants have on wages, jobs, budgets, and the U.S. economy in general.
