Good afternoon. I’m honoured to stand here before you today and share with you some of my thoughts on the topic of youth. As a college student in this competitive society, I must face the difficult employment situation and afford the expensive house, for which I must be realistic. So I began to fear for the future. I am at a complete loss as to what to do and how to do. I am not yet prepared for a tough life ahead, either academically or financially. But youth is my biggest asset. Since I am young, not only can I cherish a big dream, but I am also blessed with precious time and abundant energy and passion to make it come true. As what they said, “We cannot build the future for our youth but we can build our youth for the future.” To build my youth for the future, I will, in the final two years of my college life, not only work hard in my study, but what’s equally important, I will also grasp every possible opportunity to improve my abilities in various aspects in order to achieve my dream one day. Firstly, before stepping into the society, I must make the fullest use of the time left for me in college to make a stock of knowledge, sailing in the ocean of knowledge, that is, the library, and surfing on the Internet, which is loaded with various learning resources such as the online open courses given by prestigious professors from worldly known universities like Harvard, Cambridge and so on. But it is too far away to attend in that particular university. What’s important is that, besides Mapeh, my major, which is after all a tool of being physically fit, I must also enrich myself by learning beyond textbooks but also in demonstrating to broaden my horizon and better know the need of the society which I will have to face in three years.
