With the rising tuition education is going to be very hard to acquire. So it is time for America to change and find a way to lower these ridiculous prices. A College Board report found that about 66% of students who earned a bachelor's degree in 2008 graduated with a substantial amount of debt. This proves that the cost of tuition is rising and in another report, it determined that the average debt of the class of 2008 owed $23,200. This was determined by the Project on student debt, a non profit organization.
Simply put, these financial institutions are offering gimmicks such as pre-approved accounts at terms that cannot be repaid with a minimum wage job. Students are of the age that their parents do not need to know that the even applied for a credit card until they have gotten themselves into trouble with them for nonpayment. This trend has many college students becoming trapped in the financial nightmare of high debt acquired while in school. Tuition or Burglary Why is college tuition so high? Something so necessary to succeed in today’s world should not burden someone for the rest of their life; many people live with college debt until the day they die. How do colleges come up with these ridiculous prices for in-state and out-of-state tuition anyway? Should private universities be able to charge more than a state college? So, how could someone pay for it?
We can’t hide the fact that people desperately need money to meet their needs. This results in having jobs whether part-time or full-time. College, in turn, is expensive. Students need money to study leading most of them to work and for some to drop out and work instead. Another top reason is because of failing, also known as academic disqualification.
Students, who live in apartments, need to work so much to pay of the rent. Some students have bills and car payments that have to be paid each month. These students might have to search for a job that they don’t like but pays a lot of money. Students who work part time and go to college full time have a lot of pressure. The employers need to work out a schedule to the employees who are college students so they can have time for both their job and school.
Expensive Schools vs. Cheaper Schools Each year more and more colleges are starting to increase their tuition for each student. As a result students are struggling to find that kind of money and now have to take out loans. Once students take out loans they are leaving school with a ton of debt. With education becoming so vital for jobs, why are schools making it harder and harder to afford school? Over the past year I have done college searches to find a school I could afford.
Parents spend a lot of money for their son or daughter to better them through higher education. Alcohol directly causes that investment to be wasted away. “Alcohol consumption before and during final exam period is detrimental to students’ performance. The effect is particularly significant for the highest-performing students, according to the study” (Daily Princetonian Staff) this quote explains how alcohol consumption is directly associated with failing grades, even in usually high performing students. The quote came from a study taken during finals week at a college.
Our society undervalues entrepreneurial work, trade skills, and it discourages young people from pursuing this type of education after high school. Now this isn’t a good thing for a few reasons. For example, tuition fees have gone through the roof to go to college over the last thirty years, and that means debts are increasing ridiculously. According to stats from CNBC, right now in the US, college related debts are over a trillion dollars. This debt is getting harder and harder to pay off too, because there are so limited jobs available for college graduates.
Students Should Work Throughout College Students are eligible to work up to twenty hours per a week while taking at least twelve credit hours per a semester. Although many parents would disagree with the thesis “working while studying is a good thing to do,” students should use any given opportunity to work during college. There are many reasons why students should work throughout school; however, in this essay, I am going to discuss the three most important reasons: financing college, gaining necessary experience for future jobs, and socializing and adjusting to college life. In today’s economy, paying for school can be extremely difficult. Though the economy is still in bad shape, tuition fees continue to increase every semester.
Economic pressure is very hard on students today. Colleges’ tuitions have been increased year after year. Students take out loans, so they can afford to attend colleges. Having to pay back loans after one year of graduation causes them to set their mind straight to jobs that will get them out of debt as soon as possible. High unemployment rate and people being laid off makes the economic pressure, which plays a very important role in students’ lives.
