B.) I fight with my two sisters as much as any siblings would but I would say that I probably fought the most with my ex boyfriend. Our relationship ended after he had been unfaithful and that's when our fights really became vicious. It would start with him begging for me to take him back and every time I refused, his anger began to grow from there. He started taking shots at my self-esteem by saying that no one else would want to be with me because of x,y,z.
This book will horrify, disgust, and inspire those who read Dave’s journey through the dark insanity of his mother. The outside world knew nothing of his living nightmare. I would definitely recommend this book because it shows the true emotion that he went through. However, this book has some very descriptive details on the abuse his mom did to him, and if you know you can’t handle it, then don’t read
Rayona hates it more than anything that when she goes anywhere, people poke fun at her and make racial remarks to her which makes her feel insecure about herself. When Ray meets Foxy for the first time, Father Tom introduces her and Foxy says, “Your Christine’s kid…The one whose father is a nigger” (Dorris 44). Not only does Rayona have to deal with racism her mother is always putting her in bad situations. There has been quite a few times where Christine has attempted to leave Ray and told her that she wanted to commit suicide. One time in the very beginning of the story Elgin goes to visit Christine in the hospital, Rayona had not seen him in 5 months and Christine did not want to tell him about her sickness.
They assume that I will be like other Department of Children and Families service workers and treat them in a hateful disrespectful manner. But in fact, I am not like that at all, my mother always taught me to treat others like I would like to be treated, and I have lived by this rule my whole life. Those who know me know that I am probably one of the least hateful people you will meet in your life, I do not like conflict, and therefore I try to avoid it at all costs. I consider this stereotype to be very hurtful and it has caused damage to my health in all ways such as overeating, and being depressed all the time. My depression got so bad that at one time in my life all I wanted to do was sleep my life away, luckily the support from my family helped me to realize that I am not a hateful person and that I need not listen this stereotype.
How does Hill convey relationships in the novel King of the Castle? Hill is describing Kingshaw’s relationship with his mother as not a good one. We see this as Kingshaw is thinking back to his past experiences with his mother, “He wished she were dead instead of his father”. Here Hill is trying to portray that Kingshaw’s mother is an extremely unlikable person and a terrible parent. Here, Kingshaw’s mother is trying to treat both the boys with equal respect.“I shall not make a favourite of my own child”, which is conveyed to the reader constantly as throughout the novel as her respect for her own child declines as her feelings for Mr Hooper increases .
Patten learned at school that ‘one and one made two’. This metaphor is referring to love and how one person and another come together to make two. But at home it was a completely different story; Patten had parents who fought and didn’t take much interest in him, Patten’s home life ‘stung more than any teachers cane’ which shows the extent of how painful love came across to him. In his home life he learned that ‘one and one stayed one and one’. His parents actions when he was young left him with the idea that love and relationships are horrible and all it does is hurt us, he felt as if it’s not worth going through the pain and stress.
Mary Karr’s The Liars Club is a memoir about Karr’s traumatic childhood and what type of impact her dysfunctional family made on her childhood. The reasons for the family’s problems stem from the grandmother, Grandma Moore. Grandma Moore always put pressure on Karr’s family, but most of all Charlie Marie. The pressure grandma Moore puts on the Karr’s mother breaks Charlie Marie down, among the pressure was criticizing every relationship Charlie Marie had ever been in. For example, Grandma Moore thought that only certain men were good enough for Charlie Marie, with that being said it just so happened that the one who is Mary Karr’s father was the one Grandma Moore disliked the most.
I was surprised at how aggravated I was when I was reading because Hal ad Claire didn’t believe her. Catherine kept this big secret from everyone and when she finally decides to open up and tell them they don’t believe her. I can relate to her and I can understand why she would be so hurt and storm off. I have personally been in many situations like this because all my life people have underestimated me. At one point in time in my life one of my teachers told me that I would never graduate or attend college and that I would most likely be knocked up before my junior year.
Abigail used to be a servant in the Proctor household, but once Goody Proctor found out about John and Abby’s relationship, she fired Abigail. This caused Abigail to have vindictive feelings towards Goody Proctor. Ignorance is displayed through Giles Corey, another character in Act 1. His description at the bottom of page 40 explains how he is an ignorant man. “He didn’t give a hoot for public opinion, and only in his last years-after he had married Martha-did he bother much with the church.
Through Elsa’s comments, one can see the women’s rejection of such treatment. Katrina is a young teenager, definitely inexperienced when it comes to marriage as Elsa suggests when she says, “at that age I was still at school dreaming about my future, and here she is with a baby and bruises”(Fugard, 1985:23). She probably was enduring this tough marriage simply because she did not have that freedom to express herself freely. Helen argues with Elsa, stating that because Katrina is in a sacred union, she just has to endure her husband’s brutal treatment. Helen also suggests that Katrina has no right to do or say anything about it.
