One effective method for me is playing music while writing essays for English. I have found that this type of music is a fantastic way to become inspired and it aids in intellectual development. As a musician I have always gone to music when I am lacking inspiration and it has never failed me. Whenever I have an essay to write for English, the first thing I do is start up my music. Writing is not a challenging task for me but it does demand a certain imaginative spark that I find in music.
How music affects us is connected through our brains neurochemistry, our mental associations with the music, our culture, and our spirit, which are all mentioned in this scientific journey. Through this journey the writer perplexed me with scientific and musical vocabulary and redundant examples, but at the same time, I was fascinated with his description of the anatomy of the brain and why we enjoy the music we prefer listening to. I must admit that I had high expectations for this book because of my appreciation for music and what a significant role it plays in my life. However, when I began reading, I found the beginning of the book to be very abstruse. Knowing the definitions of pitch, timbre, meter and loudness, to name a few, do not help me enjoy music more than what I already do.
Taking the learning style assessment test was very interesting experience. I had no idea there different types of learners. I always thought that I was more of hands on learner and visual learner. After taking the assessment, I discovered that my learning style is auditory. As I reflect back, I noticed that I do read aloud to myself and I also enjoy working in groups and often participate in class discussions.
Copland’s analytical review of how we listen to music is a very interesting one. I believe that his review is pretty accurate. I do agree with him regarding the three musical planes of music. If you take a look at this matter in its simplistic form, people listen to music for a number of reasons. I listen to music to enjoy the way it sounds.
They are identified in a person but aren’t really the person’s number one choice. The preferred strategies are the strategies that help the person learn and cope to their needs. Identified strategies are there and also help but the person would prefer the other strategies over them. As discussed earlier, kinesthetic strategies embody actively engaging into the lesson. On the contrary, aural study strategies engage “attending classes, discussions, and tutorials, discussing topics with others and teachers, and using a tape recorder.” People who are good listeners and learn better by hearing have aural strategies.
An auditory person may try to get into harmony with the situation and listen for any hints to the solution. Something might tell you that you were playing the right tune. In auditory mode LEM is usually around the horizontal midline, looking to the right imagining or rehearsing a sound, to the left remembering a sound. When we speak normally, we might use visual, auditory and kinaesthetic words, but in some states, when we are thinking in a certain way, we will use words that represent the Modality we are using for
The direction and theme of "a barred owl" and "the history teacher", are quite similar, causing them to follow similar lines of diction. The titles of both of these poems speak of wisdom and knowledge of what has been. In each poem, the world around them is not necessarily friendly, and the characters are forced to watch carefully. The history teacher uses the rhyme scheme (aa,bb,cc,dd,ee,ff), while the owl uses the same exact rhyme scheme. in many ways these poems are similar, and very beautiful.

For times when I am saddened, I find that classical or soft rock music, music with a melancholy tone, often matches my mood and works to lift my spirits. At times when I am tremendously frustrated and stressed, I prefer to listen to the hardest rock & roll or heaviest metal that I can lay my hands on. While some may prefer a relaxing type of music to mellow out their emotions, I prefer music that matches my mentality. I feel this enables me to identify with the music in a direct manner and filter my emotions through the
Having these basic fundamentals down allows the musician to more accurately play the music and sight read better. Throughout high school, I developed these skills until it didn’t take much thought for me to play my major scales up and down full range, then blast through my chromatic scale. I even practiced all forty-eight minor scales. It was the combination of learning to read music as well as performing it
