Some of the different approaches to parenting are authoritarian, permissive, uninvolved and authoritative these are similar in a way but very different at the same time. As soon as a child is born their brain instantaneously goes through developmental changes. The environment and their genes that they are born with are the cause of these development issues and changes. A child’s experiences can be separated into two different classes and they are experience-expectant and experience-dependent. Experience-expectant states that circumstances in which the nervous system is expected to develop a certain way.
Children who participated in this study show that they were better prepared for kindergarten. I feel that the article is very true. It makes a difference when issues are addressed early because it can help a child significantly. For example some children may not have developmentally appropriate environments which can help them grow and early intervention programs can help them dramatically. In the right environment grow in cognition, developmental milestones can be reached within their own capacity.
The idea of a predictable and unpredictable life events involves generalisation. For some people issues like divorce or redundancy may be predictable, but other people may not have expected to be divorced or lose their job. Predictable life changes One event that is often predicted is when our children start school/nursery. There will be positive learning from this experience as the child will then learn to socialise with other children and make new friendships with them. The child will learn to share toys and develop a better vocabulary by listening to others talking.
Even before birth a child is developing within the womb. The parents are responsible in ensuring that they are giving their unborn child the nutrients to develop. This helps to prevent any small or large physical and learning difficulties during this time, as in many cases it is out of the child’s or parents control. If learning cognitive theories are accepted and the infant brain is insufficiently stimulated during the first 3 years of a child’s life, or they are exposed to toxins or malnutrition, then this can be a factor in later learning and disabilities. There have been many studies on diet and how it effects a child’s growth and physical development and ability to learn.
By 1915 nearly 1 million were receiving it. HOWEVER not many people in those days lived to 70, it was not much and could be removed in ‘undeserving’ cases. • YOUNG, 1906 Free School Meals: Free school meals given to children and studies showed that during the holidays children’s health declined rapidly showing just how important these free means were to children’s health. However, up until 1914 it was up to the local authorities to provide this kind of care and many didn’t do that leaving lots of children malnourished. 1907 School Medical Inspections: Doctors and nurses were sent to school to inspect children and identify a health problem if one.
This side of the nature-nurture debate suggests that we are a certain way because of the way we were bought up and our life experiences. Biological programming - this comes down to your genes. Biological programming suggests that you will have similar medical conditions to your parents supporting the idea of natural selection and genetics. Maturation theory - this theory sees child development as being controlled by evolution and that genetically there is a series of events that will occur automatically. It is believed the development has a biological process and this can be predicted over time.
Designer Babies are developing embryo's with specific trait's such as personal characteristics, gender and inherited disorders. Infants are created by genetic engineering combined with In vitro fertilisation in order to ensure the absence or presence of a particular gene. People agree with method's of designing babies to allow parents to have a child, prevent genetic genes or to create a baby that can provide genetic material for medical purposes. For those that are unable to have their own children due to genetic disorders or tending to reproduce, designer babies allow those parents the option to create an embryo which can change the genetic make-up of the embryo allowing these parents to conceive. Mothers would be able to conceive healthy
Mostly, our identity can change easily when we belong to a group, maybe it is because of we get influenced. Other than this, virtual communities can provide us a new identity if we are frighten to show our true self. To see from another perspective, I think it is the place of school that enables us to learn about ourselves which gives us the confidence to develop our identity. Family is the first group to which the majority of people ever belong to. The culture and values our family instill in us determine our characteristics initially, and as we mature through time.
Nature vs. nurture. There has been many controversies whether which of these theories is correct according as to how we behave. But what is nature and nurture? Nature is the theory that we are who we are because we were born that way and nurture says that we learn to behave a certain way based on our surroundings. Although this theory hasn’t been proven to be true, I believe nurture affects our behavior more than nature.
These words and ideas weren’t necessarily given to me by great people or scientist, but they changed my life for the better, especially educationally. They improved my life greatly and placed a bet on the future generation. They changed me to change the world, which I will later change. These people vary from friends, to relatives, and to parents. I currently study to please these people, and to pay them back for their endless support, by changing the world and making it a better place.
