Most professions have internally enforced codes of practice that members of the profession must follow to prevent exploitation of the client and to preserve the integrity of the profession. This is not only for the benefit of the client but also for the benefit of those belonging to the profession. Disciplinary codes allow the profession to define a standard of conduct and ensure that individual practitioners meet this standard. These documentations can be used in court hearings and therapy sessions. Here these documents must be carefully and competently composed. It is important for parole officers to have superb verbal skills in order to interact with co-workers, attorneys, judges and other people involved in the case.

Drug use in the work place Drug use by an employee is rightfully private unless the reason that an employer needs to know is for the safety of their employees. There are many reasons to support employer’s right on regulation of their employees drug use. Amongst these are the arguments focusing on the personal rights of other employees and safety by having a drug- and alcohol-free workplace policy in place. While I support the rights of privacy for consenting adults. I feel that once you use drugs in a work place you put other employees at risk.
