The ‘EKKA’ is described as country meets city and brings together the best of the Queensland community in a ten-day extravaganza. This creates a sense of unity and builds support for those parts of the community that are at times isolated. The economic benefits of such a large-scale event are widespread and cover the tourism industry, local business and the entertainment industry. It also creates media and publicity opportunities both indirect and direct for stakeholders and participants. The Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland (RNA) is an active industry associate for the EKKA. They’re responsible for running the event and providing the venue. Their mission is to promote and encourage community development in areas of agriculture, horticulture, industry, manufacturing and cultural resources. 2.2 Wicked the Musical Wicked the musical is a mega-event that has seen global success. The Australian production of Wicked has impacted economically, globally and socially within communities Australia wide. Events such as these bring huge tourist revenue to local business, support to the Australian entertainment industry, global recognition and community expansion. A show of this size and impact creates a buzz and hype that flows into the local culture by way of involving local business and creating a memorable experience for participants. It is something that will be talked about and becomes part of the local landscape. 4.5 Protocols Protocol would be in place for the media who play a huge part in the publicity of the musical. It would cover registrations, limitations and event policies. Briefing sheets would be mandatory to ensure the event runs smoothly and everyone is clearly informed of their duties and protocols relevant to their job description. An Order of Precedence may be in place particularly for opening nights for VIP guests and stakeholders. 5.1
