Those parents have to stay vigorously involved in schooling their kids. Surely the obligation to ensure our nation’s future must be shared also by those who don’t have children in the public schools. Those people who should take an interest in the students that will eventually be stepping into the workforce. They should be developing work-study groups, internships and job placement banks that they can recruit and develop to be successful. Evidently, the tasks of educating our children nowadays are a lot more difficult than simple examinations and easy solutions.
They may be less likely to achieve as well at school due to lack of space at home to complete homework. This could result in low expectations of themselves. Housing and Community- Poor housing can affect a child's development. Living in a community where children experience anti-social behaviour can lead to families being isolated and children may not speak to their parents. This could also make it difficult to access education and children may get excluded from school due to behaviour.
This is a big influence on student’s educational achievement as they do not have enough money to buy the necessary equipment for school such as revision guides. Also, if a student comes from a poor background, the house is more likely to be overcrowded. This means that they do not have a quiet place to study and do their homework which puts them at a disadvantage. Thay may not be able to afford educational trips etc. this is known as cultural deprivation.
Unit 030 Describe how social, economical and cultural factors can impact on the outcomes and life chances of children and young people. Social Factor Lack of social / friendship groups Possible Impact:- Children who don’t socialise a lot tend to become isolated and therefore isolate themselves more. They may suffer insecurities about themselves and be withdrawn and shy. They struggle to communicate, share and understand the needs and feelings of others. They will lack confidence to find it hard confide in other people or seek out help and advice.
1) Suggest three factors within schools that may lead to the educational under-achievement of pupils from some minority ethnic groups. (6marks) 2) Suggest three material factors that might cause working-class educational underachievement. (6 marks) One material factor that may cause working class underachievement is lack of workspace at home. Poverty leads to material deprivation whereby this involves cramped housing, an environment where the child has no space for homework and where illnesses spread quickly. This means that the children are unable to do homework, thus fall behind on work in class, which in turn leads to low educational attainment.
Gatto is saying that schooling is made for kids to adapt to; it has adaptive qualities, therefore there is a chance for everyone to succeed if they really want to, but it takes away from any individual thinking. Conforming is another evil of school because it makes us forced to learn things we really have no interest in and as Gatto states “its intention is to make children as alike as possible”(153). A lot of students use this excuse while they are in high school “when am I ever going to use this again in life” ill be honest I have said it before but I don't necessarily agree with these students because you need to build a base education before you figure out what you want your schooling to focus on. Kids change their minds everyday, I realized that I’m not quite sure I want to be an art major anymore, even being in the first couple of classes I knew it wasn’t for me
This provision is ineffective because the majority of the schools under the same district suffer from the same inadequacies. Moving schools within one’s district proves to be ineffective as a low-income student would still lack in the amount of opportunities that they
1. What are the most likely reasons that children in middle school are absent or tardy? In my opinion, chilldren in middle shool can be absent for the several reasons. Firstly, they can be not disciplined enough and don't take seriously their school responsibilities. Secondly, some kids could be lacking motivation for the study and thus would neglect their opportunity for learning and school rules at the same time.
If they had low self-esteem this could mean that the child/ young person may be facing further abuse in their parenthood as they are very defenseless. If someone has been abused from a child it may mean that they could possibly never reach their full potential. This would be due to depreciation that they had faced and possibly end up making them feel powerless to take on a role which would consist of obligation. Not being able to have relationships with people in the future, making friends as a child and finding a husband/partner once in parenthood. Self-harm would make the service providers very mistrustful as the pain imposed on them by themselves is showing as the pain they are facing at some other point with someone else.
Children whose parents divorce will be more likely to be isolated and antisocial than sociable and integrate. If there is no contact with one of the parents, the child misses out on that parent’s knowledge and skills. This is a big loss to the child especially if the only parent in their life has a serious lack in parental
