And fear the time when the strikes stop while the great owners live—for every little beaten strike is proof that the step is being taken.” | Pg.151 | This is one of my favorite quotes from the book. It was odd at first that Steinbeck started giving war a positive light, however after reading it over I completely agreed with the quote. Man is constantly moving forward step by step. This also reminded me of how in the book Tom was just trying to put “one foot in front of the other” so that he could deal with his situation. Men always advance and as they do, it can be a struggle so it is almost like everyone is just stumbling
I recommend this book because it not only gives you a look into the life of a grunt, but also into the most recent war America has been involved in. Danelo’s book is also a very good book with a lot of action that will keep your heart pounding if you are into the book. Although no one will ever understand what kind of brother ship these men have and how to be a leader under immense stress, reading this book will give a better understanding to the reader. If I had to rate Danelo’s “Blood Stripes” on a scale from one to ten based the detail of information given and the deciphering of war into words then I would give this book a perfect score and recommend it to anyone that is looking for a good book to
Therefore, the strategy of which him and his soldiers having a common trust did help them to win the war. Furthermore, this source has hindsight, something which the previous source greatly lacked in, and it is also well researched. However, because this is a textbook, it may be slightly exaggerated, and could be missing out on some of Haig’s failures in his strategies and tactics. Along with Haig’s tactics, there were also a number of weaknesses that came with them. For example, the artillery had to be silenced.
Finally, accountability is important in everyday life no matter what job you have. Accountability is what keeps the military going and wins wars, and keeps big companies alive. If they didn’t have accountability companies would fall and the military would be
It gives the reader a sense of the standards and ideals of the citizens of the time. This book allows the reader to gain much respect for JFK and the troubles he went through. There were many things happening behind the scenes that the citizens did not know of but now allow us to recognize how hard the job of president was at the time. This bibliography also shows that the president is not always an upstanding citizen and at some time or another messes up but as long as they own up to the fact that they are not perfect, the American people will show them a great sense of respect for their
If he did not, he would not taught ,explained and helped David to understand about Waknuk's rules and their views on people who are different from the image of God. He also would not cares about David and wants to protect him. The last example is “ It was a great satisfaction to learn and know more, it helped to ease one over a lot of puzzling matters, and I began to understand many of the things Uncle Axel talked about much better, nevertheless, it brought, too, the first taste of complications from which we would never again be free. ” (8, 82) This happened after David’s aunt die, he develops an intense desire to become normal. He was so scared that someone will find out about him.
Malcolm X vs. King. Which method was better? Both were effective, but I believe Malcolm’s method was most effective. People are not going to change unless you give them a reason to change and pain is a legitimate reason. The blacks during that time period were being beaten and abused, and we all know the famous saying, “Fight fire with fire.” So if people are being violent and you want them to stop, all you have to do is get them to know how you feel.
It turns out that Miguel's grandparents are forgiving him for killing his brother, which is the big conspiracy that set this whole thing in motion. And finally Rondell and Miguel decide to stop running from their past and go back to the group home to make amenends. We Were Here is one powerful book by Matt De La Pe`na because it could help anyone understand more of themselves. Also this book could help those whom have had issues overcoming serious problems. I loved this book also because when miguel narrates it is like your a speaking to a real person.
History is currently a widely studied subject among many American educational programs. However, doubts has risen over the practicality of such a course, suggesting that other subjects such as engineering and medicine is more useful in everyday life. Authors William H. McNeill and Peter N. Stearns argues otherwise in their similarly named articles, Why Study History. In these writings, they addressed the importance of studying history both on a personal and global level, demonstrating how the collective memory of a population provides it a higher understanding of their societal values. This allows for more efficient problem-solving in the future, as the past is being served as a reference.
Kennedy were remembered for these reasons. Although these men got assassinated, they made a big change to our country. If it wasn’t for the changes they made, we would not have friends of a different nationality, we wouldn’t be wise to each other, and we wouldn’t get along. These men had the courage to stand up to themselves and speak from there hearts to make us understand what was right and what was wrong. People are glad that everything has changed over the years or else what life would we be living right now?
