Why Death Penalty should be Abolished The death penalty has been in many countries for many years .The death penalty is immoral as it breaks the human rights of a person.The government uses the death penalty to scare criminals from not doing the crime. Human rights are broken as the government has the death penalty.The amendments in the constitution are broken with the death penalty.The death penalty in some ways can be discriminatory to the person on trial . Death penalty should be abolished because it invades human right,breaks the constitution,and innocent people get put to the death penalty. The death penalty started around the 1600s in the american colonies. The death penalty was used for the most treasonist crimes. In Points of View The Death Penalty it states,“The first execution in the American colonies took place in Virginia in 1608 when George Kendall was accused of espionage .” .(Issit and Newton 1).The first man was killed on the charges of being a spy for another country.They killed because he could of gave government secrets away.In the 1970s there a group of people said that the death penalty was not fair becasue goverment did make a fair meaning or way for the death penalty.In the Points of View The Death Penalty it says“In 1972, the abolitionist movement took its case to the federal court system, claiming that the government was unable to provide for fair implementation of capital punishment.”(Issit and Newton 1) . Abolitionist wanted to remove capital punishment as it was being used unfairly. The government use the death penalty to scare criminals as they can see what their fate will be if the do the crime .
