What to Expect as a Business Administrator Heather Munoz Everest College SLS 1105-154 What to Expect as a Business Administrator Introduction I was born to be a leader. As an adolescent I loved to play “office”. There was something fascinating about dressing up and bossing my “employees” around. Even if I was just a child and my “employees” were my cousins. It all seemed so simple then. While I am still unsure about what area I will further my career in business, I am sure I will run my own business one day. I would like for my journey to begin as a business administrator. Today “a business administrator’s job duties are very complex.” (Business Administrator Job Description). However, obtaining a degree in business offers a competitive pay scale, positive employment and growth potential, as well as unlimited fields of employment opportunities. Duties of a Business Administrator As a child playing “office”, there was a small part of me that knew what a business administrator’s day would be like. Only I had no idea the job duties could be much more intricate. Most business administrators work in an office setting, and are responsible to oversee the managerial functions. (Role of a Business Administrator). These managerial functions include planning, organizing, leading, and controlling the company. (McHugh, 2010). “They are the overall general manager of the business” (Role of a Business Administrator), and must make sure that everything runs efficiently. (Business Administration Salary, 2010). One might think the business administrator has the most duties or is the most important part of a company. However, the compensation will likely make up for having so many responsibilities.
