XCOMM285 WK7 Tuition Reimbursement April 14, 2014 Administration The company had a very profitable year, this is due to the employee’s hard work proving that a company is only good as its employees. As we continue to have profitable year we as a company need to keep our employee and help educate them so they can continue to grow the company. At times it can be a struggle to retain and hire employees due their knowledge or lack of what the company has to offer. Hiring within the company makes a positive statement. Offering tuition reimbursement is also a making statement “the company cares for its employees”. The opportunity to attend a high education can improve ones quality of life. The education will build confidence, employees will have the feeling of being need and willing to take the responsibility of doing what it that to get the job done, which can increase overall productivity. Employees who attend the program can introduce new idea and encourage other employees. A person that takes advantage of tuition reimbursement is being proactive and wanting to grow their career or advance to another career, Bell, R. (2010). Their program is called Employee Scholar Program which started in 1996. They pay the costs for tuituion, fees, books, and course materials for full or parttime employees. Today they have 15 percent of their domestic workforce enrolled in college and more than half seeking advanced degrees. This is three times the national average for companies with similar programs. The employees retention rate is double that of all employees. Cassidy, J. F. (2004). Business Communication degree will be useful to our company. College will help them improve in organization skill, prepare them to handle written reports and letters or give oral presentations, improve multi-tasking skills or listening skill just to name a few. The types of jobs that would open up could be Communication Director, Marketing, Management positions, accounting, human resource, public relation, administration and economic, even research and development.
