We are what we eat. This phrase is very suitable to summarise the effect of our choice in eating. In this modern age, we are keen to have an unhealthy food lifestyle. Today’s contemporary world demands everything to be fast. We need to get up fast, go to work fast, and eat fast. This phenomenon manifests the word “fast food”. We admit that preparing a complete healthy meal is bothersome and takes a lot of time, so we resort to eat fast food, since it is easy, fast, instant, and more appetizing. Just buy, heat and eat. For example, fast food like fried chicken, nuggets, processed food, microwavable food. Most teenagers choose to eat fast food because, they think it taste delicious than food at home. Actually, based on the research, some fast food, such as the popular hot dog and nuggets, wieners, frankfurters or sausage actually can cause cancer. It has been found that they are a widely consumed nitrite-preserved meat. Besides that, there are a few proposed linkages of such products with colon cancer. The DNA mutation rates were increased by nitrites with 100 to 300 percent. Researchers went on to explain that DNA mutations in human gut are a very high risk factor for colon cancer. Also, bad news for Malay who eat rice every day, since rice is the staple food for Malays. Rice is naturally good, and healthy since it contains a lot carbohydrates and fibres. However, eating rice everyday can cause cancer, because nowadays, rice is contaminated with arsenic. Arsenic winds up in food when plants such as rice take up the poison from the soil. Arsenic is stored in the body and can eventually cause damage to the liver, kidneys, and heart. The poison can also lead to the development of cancer in humans.
