Water Purification Water purification solves one of the largest sanitation issues in the world. It helps save people and especially children from contracting diseases and illnesses such as malaria, cholera, diarrhoea , hepatitis and many more ; thus reducing the percentage of death in LEDCs ( Less Economically Developed Countries), such as Malawi , Haiti and Sudan. In many LEDCs , much of each and every day is spent by children that have dropped out of school ,traveling to a contaminated water source, and returning heavily encumbered with what is needed for just one day; or conceivably boiling water in large masses for purification. Some reports state that in most countries four hours are allocated on this task. Water purification resolves the problems above by helping provide clean and sterile water that is safe to drink and won't cause any harm. This is achieved by following specific steps and stages ; first the water is retrieved from the water source and coagulants and polymers are added to the water. This helps the particles in the water destabilise and bond. After that the water is left for sedimentation where the accumulated particles are left to sink to the bottom. Then the water is filtered through layers of gravel and sand in which the contaminants are caught in between the layers of the filter: this is called filtration. The last and final step to ensuring sterile water is disinfection ; this will guarantee clean water. Even though we have clean water and that most of the problems mentioned earlier are resolved there are still a few dilemmas that we still face today : as the population of the world increases the demand of safe drinking water grows dramatically which still remains a problem for scientists and the local body governance for water law and water
