Some of these children may not develop well-mannered vocabulary due to the majority of their parents having difficulty speaking proper English. In a poor socioeconomic group, students are more likely to drop out of school; this happens since the environment around them does not allow them to achieve an academic goal or have parents who support them.
A married couple could divide those responsibilities and schedule their work hours so that the kids hardly spend time alone. It will be easier to guide them in a positive direction. Poverty is a major factor that negatively affects the households. Both the parents and the kids will have a much more stressful life and that stress will reflect upon their performance at work and at school. An education costs money and a single parent with only one source of income plus all the other payments will definitely cause problems.

Disconnected-local choosers and semi-skilled choosers are working-class parents who have a lack of cultural capital and therefore their child’s academic progress suffers as they are usually sent to ‘local’ schools which they aren’t necessarily best suited for. Children who have cultural capital also have an elaborated code (wider vocabulary) which gives them an advantage at school as it is the code used by teachers and in textbooks. The elaborated code is typically used by middle class and helps with their academic achievement. Children with a lack of cultural capital are more likely to use the restricted code (limited vocabulary) which disadvantages them at school as they feel excluded and are therefore less successful.
Children of families that receive government assistance are more likely to have children as teenagers and are in turn are more likely to receive more government assistance because they are not financially stable. The families can’t afford the people they already have in their family, so having more children interferes with their current children’s rights, tax payers’ rights, and the rights of future children brought into this socioeconomic class. It takes away the children’s right to quality experiences and proper parenting. Proper parenting is in no way saying that these people are bad parents, however, they are not setting a good example if they are not thinking about the financial well-being of their family. These government costs could be greatly reduced by distributing birth control to all men and women at no cost to them.

Single parents have a lack of funds to support their children’s needs. There is a certain amount of social stigma pointed towards children living in poverty, and it’s these children, who, not only have to deal with that stigma and embarrassment, but, also they are dealing with the dramatic health consequences as well. There are a number of strategies in place to end child poverty. Improving social mobility and promoting work are high on the agenda, along with services to help promote the most vulnerable and hopefully, this in turn, will eradicate child poverty for good. This affects working class children more because their parents tend to be less well-educated and reduces the child's chance of achieving high in life as they may become less developed than another family leading onto my next point involving Bernstein. However, you this is criticisms by the fact working class parents cannot help their child because they have to work long and tiresome hours to live a decent life. Therefore, you cannot blame all working class parents for having a lack of interest if they are working to pay bills. As well as this, if a child misses a certain amount of schooling for a poor reason the local council’s educational welfare officer will contact their parents and they may be served a fine. All of these laws and regulations, and more, are contributing factors to the improvement of the status of children. Opposing this, the conflict view believes there are increasing inequalities among children in terms of opportunities and a general lowering status of children. Marxists state that children are discriminated against unfairly, an example of this is the lower wages people under the age of 18 get for the same work that over 18s do.
