Understanding the Four Goals of Psychology Study of the human mind is extremely complex and of consists of facets to make it function and work. The facets can make the mind work and controls how people in today’s society individually respond to these evaluations. The concepts of psychology are brilliant attempts to try and describe these facets and according to the text “Intro to Psychology: Gateways to Mind and Behavior”, psychology is defined as the scientific study of behavior and mental process. Understanding the four goals of psychology are essential for life and help humanity, it allows the average person to understand their feeling and emotions as well get help when depression or anxiety hits. This is where the Four Goals of Psychology come in, the goals are describing behaviors, understanding behaviors, predicting behaviors and controlling behaviors. The four goals of psychology work together and create a sense of understanding of the human mind and how it works. These four goals help humanity in countless ways; each goal has its own contributing factor can offer guidance in overcoming certain behaviors and can help give insight to different types of behaviors in children and adults. One life example of these goals is average behavior in children. Some children have lots of obedience and even anger problems may be labeled or described as unemotional or disturbed. These goals have helped parents understand why their children are acting the way they do. Understanding the mental process behind a child that is emotionally disturbed is very important for their teachers, parents and peers. They grow in support and find more patience within themselves if they want to grow a relationship with their child.
