Its head is massive with a bulging forehead and prominent sagittal crest on top. Like humans, their mouth is fit with 32 teeth. However, they are much larger and stronger than humans, fit to grind the coarse vegetation they eat. They do experience a similar “two-set” system, losing the first set of baby teeth to be replaced by a permanent set as an adult. But where do all of these attributes come into play?
The name dinosaur translates as 'terrible or wondrous lizards' and they certainly evolved in a huge range of sizes and shapes, from the gigantic plant-eating sauropods to the quick meat-eating tyrannosaurs. So far, the remains of over 1,000 different dinosaur species have been identified from fossils the extinction of most dinosaurs species occurred in the Cretaceous-Tertiary Extinction event. Fossil records show that birds evolved within the Theropod dinosaurs during the Jurassic period. Some birds survived the Cretaceous-Tertiary Extinction event from which modern birds
The animal I chose to do my report over for the prehistoric era is the Stegosaurus. Stegosaurus translates to meaning, “roof lizard or"plated lizard". Stegosauruses most likely lived during the late Jurassic period, about 156-140 million years ago. Fossils have been found in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming, USA, and in North America, western Europe, southern India, China, and southern Africa. The first Stegosaurus fossil was found in Colorado, USA, in 1876 by M. P. Felch.
A beaver dam can be very large and can contain thousands of pieces of wood cut by the beaver. Beavers even cut down small trees to eat the bark, leaves and twigs. Because beavers are members of the rodent family, they have four incisor teeth in the front of their mouths that never stop growing, so beavers must continuously chew on wood to keep their teeth
Species occur in over 400 in general. There are many more species of plant –eating dinosaurs named than carnivores because carnivores were fewer in number. Where did dinosaurs live? Dinosaurs lived everywhere on earth, including the South Pole, which had no ice then. Do we have any living dinosaurs today, like the coelacanth or Komodo dragon?
Every minute, 150 acres of rain forest is being destroyed by farmers, miners and paper companies. Jaguars are moving towards becoming endangered. The jaguar is at the top of the food chain, they eat everything and nothing eats them. They eat monkeys, sloths, and birds in the trees. On the ground they catch deer, pigs, cattle, peccaries and capybaras.
Giraffes also have large hearts. Their hearts can be up to 2 feet long and weigh over 20 pounds. They need these large hearts to pump blood all the way up their long necks. Although giraffes look ungainly, they are actually fairly agile and can run as fast as 30 miles per hour. Giraffes will fight if they have to, but will usually just try to outrun a predator.
Meat required for food 11 - 60 lbs also 57 for large males The number of lions in the pride may vary. Tigers may consume up to 40 kg (88 pounds) of meat at one time. It is estimated that every tiger consumes about 50 deer-sized animals each year, about one per week. Main Prey Medium to large ungulates, most notably thompson's gazelle, zebra, wildebeest, impala, warthog, hartebeest, waterbuck, cape buffalo, hippo, rhino, giraffe, and elephants. Large animals such as deer, buffalo and wild pigs, but they will also hunt fish, monkeys, birds, reptiles and sometimes even baby elephants.
Snow Leopards The snow leopard is its originally name but scientifically it goes by Uncia Uncia. Most snow leopards are found in Tundra habitat and they diet on heavily footed animals. Unfortunately Snow Leopards are endangered species and there is only 4500-7500 left. There are several interesting facts about snow leopards. The tail on every snow leopard is more than a yard long, and they do not roar like another other big cat.
The Arthropod I chose to research is Scorpions. Scorpions are a member of the Arachnida class. They are closely related to spiders, mites, and ticks which are multicellular, eukaryotes, have an exoskeleton made of chitin, and have jointed appendages. These insects have been around for hundreds of years. There are almost 2,000 scorpion species, but only 30 or 40 have strong enough poison to actually be able to kill a person.
