In Remember The Titans coach Boone manipulates the students to overcome their ingrained racial distrust and play for each other in the football team. In one part of the movie he exaggerates his childhood to inspire and uplift the new quarterback, “sunshine”: Boone says: “when I was fifteen years old I lost my mother and my father in the same month Ronnie, same month. 12 brothers and sisters I was the youngest one of them, now I wasn't ready either, but they needed me. Friday Night Lights provided all three of these themes plus a whole list of others. This movie also helps to decode why football has such an impact on the youth of America, especially high school football. Cause and Effects I chose to attend Penn State University over the other colleges that I applied to because Penn State is a well known school. Penn State is known for their academics all over the United States and even in other parts of the world. Even when I was telling my friends that live in California that I had been accepted to Penn State they knew exactly what school I was talking about. Penn State also has emotional ties to my family. My grandfather always loved Penn State football, and would always talk about Penn State University to me when I was younger.
