“Everything we are doing is changing, we gotta change! We gotta change the way we run, we gotta change the way we eat! We gotta change the way we block! We gotta change the way we tackle! We gotta change the way we win!” Change often is followed by consequences, people accept these consequences at different rates, but it’s those who acknowledge the consequences and are able to deal with them successfully that are able to move on and compromise, making the most out of the inevitable changes. In Remember The Titans coach Boone manipulates the students to overcome their ingrained racial distrust and play for each other in the football team. In one part of the movie he exaggerates his childhood to inspire and uplift the new quarterback, “sunshine”: Boone says: “when I was fifteen years old I lost my mother and my father in the same month Ronnie, same month. 12 brothers and sisters I was the youngest one of them, now I wasn't ready either, but they needed me. Your team needs you tonight, you're the Colonel, and you’re going to command your troops!” Coach Paul 'Doc' Hines: “You have twelve brothers and sisters”? Coach Boone: “Eight”. Coach Boone uses this story to manipulate his player to perform and play to a higher level. Coach Boone, Is successful in manipulating the players to change and combine as one, which consequently results in there team unison, they make the most of the racial change and reap in the rewards. This has changed my understanding of the consequences of change as it has shown me that through a positive leader change can be used for positive outcomes. In Othello we also see the consequence of manipulation but these changes result in negative consequences due to Coach Boone’s oxymoron the not so “honest”
