The Three Causes to Soil Erosion The three causes for soil erosion are over cultivating, overgrazing, and deforestation. Over cultivation is the repeated process of the soil being plowed to control weeds; this exposes the soil to water and wind erosion. A solution to this would be no-till agriculture which is a technique that allows a planting apparatus connected to the back of a tractor to spray herbicide, cut a furrow, drop seeds and fertilizer in furrow and then closes it. At harvest time the process in repeated never leaving the soil exposed, erosion and water loss is reduced, and there is enough detritus including roots from the previous crop to maintain the topsoil. Another cause for erosion is overgrazing; which is the constant grazing of animals on plants without allowing the plants any recovery time.

Soil erosion is the loss of soil caused by particles being carried away by wind or water. Erosion moves the smaller particles first and hence degrade the soil to a coarser, sandier, stonier texture. When there is rain the forests holds a lot of rainfall to the soil through roots of plants. The water then sinks deeper in the ground and replenishes the supply of the water table. If there was the removal of these forests then water from rain would flow simply through the soil surface and not be retained. Another effect may be the water from rain will not stay in the soil at all and the process of evaporation would immediately set in therefore not replenishing water table. This would lead to wells drying up.
The sweet potato industry, although a high value industry, is becoming increasingly competitive. This underlines the importance of efficiency in minimising the loss of valuable soil. Large amounts of rainfall can result in the loss of soil on cultivated farmland. The animals eat the plants that have no use and the animals fertilize the plants. Over 10 million herbicides have been poured on the land of the farmers that has caused them to loose about 90% diversity and their soil is depleting quicker. What they’re farming are not animals, but are farming grass.
This would, in turn, provide more land for farmers and help to eradicate their poverty issues. The Dam itself was built between Asyut and Abu Simbel, more towards the southern part of Egypt. While the Dam was intended to do nothing but benefit Egypt and its economy, it didn’t come without implications and negative effects. To build the Dam, many houses and residences had to be relocated and many people had to leave their homes. There were also old Egyptian structures that had to be carefully moved to avoid destruction from the new path of the river.
This unintended harm to other organisms is caused by many factors. An issue that results from introducing “herbicide-resistant” crops is that farmers are allowed to spray as much herbicide as they want with no worry of killing their own crop. These excess chemicals are introduced into the environment in unnecessary amounts and end up killing many organisms within the area. Soil borne diseases are found to be very severe in intensive systems due to frequent cropping. Hence, destruction of the inoculum surviving between crops is beneficial. In the management of soil borne diseases, cultural practices plays very important role. Soil borne diseases plays very critical role in reducing the productivity of new cultivars in some agricultural crops. These diseases are difficult to manage due to their highly heterogeneous incidence and lack of information regarding the epidemiological aspects of these pathogens.
