One World essay: The solution to Acid Rain Acid rain forms by rain that has made acidic through certain pollutants in the air. Acid rain is a combination of wet and dry deposition from the atmosphere having higher than normal amounts of nitric and sulfuric acid. Acid rain is also produced by fossil fuels such as coal and oil are burned in power station, factories and at home. Wet deposition is rain, hail, snow or fog that has developed more acidic than normal. Dry deposition is also acid deposition, which is when gases and dust particles developed acidic. Acid rain has an effect on natural and man-made environments. As the acid rain falls on forests, buildings, lakes, rivers and oceans, it can causes problems either destroying or has a bad effect on them. (Amanda Briney, 2014) The acidic liquid flows into larger bodies of water such as oceans it is weakened but over time the acids can increase and lower the overall pH of the water. When the pH of the ocean falls below 4.8 the plants and animals can die and some hundred of lakes and oceans have a pH too low to support any marine life. (Dowdey, 2014) Acid rain can significantly effect on forests, it can make them lose their leaves, harm their bark and exploit their growth because of taking important minerals. As acid deposition falls on architecture and art it can destroy. Acid rain contains sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides, which damages human health. These gases interrelate in the atmosphere which procedures sulfate and nitrate particles that carried long distances by wind then inhaled by humans which effects their lungs. (Epa.gov, 2014) The relationship between the fine particles raised levels and increases illness and early death from heart and lung disorders for example asthma and bronchitis. A possible scientific solution could be the use of Scrubbers. This solution applies globally because not only acid rain
