Atmospheric Pollution Environmental Science SCI 275 University of Phoenix July 29, 2011 BY Reigard U. Brown Sr. The paper that I am writing will be about one of the problems we have in the world is Atmospheric pollution. Atmospheric pollution is the introduction of chemicals, particulate matter that cause harm or discomfort to humans and living organisms in our atmosphere. There are many different ways that air pollution can be omitted into the air we breathe like pollution that comes from house cleaning products, older model cars, energy plants, and forests fire. These are some of the topics I will be talking about in my paper and also showing ways we can work to try and eliminate air pollution.…show more content…
Sulfuric Acid is a strong acid that exists as a colorless oily corrosive liquid and is made by reacting sulfur trioxide with water. This is most commonly found in batteries, manufacture of fertilizers, explosives, detergents, dyes and other different chemicals. Sulfuric Acid is very dangerous to humans as it can cause respiratory tracts of humans and other animals while doing some major damage to plants that helps provide oxygen for us. Ground-level ozone is a secondary air pollutant formed when sunlight triggers reactions between nitrogen oxides and volatile hydrocarbons. If a human inhales ground-level ozone it can cause chest pain, throat irritation, and congestion. It also affects the wild life as the animals that eat certain leaves and plant which can have problems producing food. Chlorofluorocarbons are normally found in Freon, halons, methyl bromide, methyl chloroform and carbon tetrachloride. The damage CFCs causes to our ozone layer is very dangerous especially since the ozone layer protects us from ultra violet radiation from the sun. If we continue to dispose of these chemicals in correctly it will continue hurt us especially by affecting the brain, eyes, heart, kidney and the reproductive system if large amount is exposed to…show more content…
The government gives out a lot of tax credit to help assist with the output of different air pollution like they give a tax credit for windows which would reduce the use of lights, and heat or air condition system running and burning a lot of pollution. Next they have put a lot of effort into the hybrid and electrical cars which are more environments friendly. The light bulbs are another way as they are more energy efficient which once again helps reduce the electrical company output of carbon dioxide. Us as human have to do our part also in saving our environment like instead of getting the plastic bags at the grocery store get one of the reusable bags, instead of throwing everything in the garbage start to recycle bottles, cans, paper, and plastic. Stop littering because if you litter by a forest it can start a fire if gets to hot and lighting strikes the paper and start a fire. One thing I would love to see is when it is dry like it normally gets in the summer especially here in Jacksonville, Florida to have planes fly over the forest and drop water on the ground which would keep it nice and soak so that land would not be to dry and if lighting strikes it would not be able to start a fire. Also have someone go in the forest and pick up the dry leaves just like we do in our yard which can help prevent forest fire and lower the air pollution as the trees
