Policies and procedures are in the place setting not only protect children and young people but also adults who work with them, it is vital that all professionals follow safe working practices to ensure that not only children are protected but also themselves. Also a child or young person should be listened to in a calm and supportive manner which will allow them to talk freely and openly, it is also imperative that they are reassured about telling someone and how hard it must have been for them. Also when the disclosure has been made and the child is calmed and secure, the employee or adult should inform the designated safeguarding officer, relevant notes should be written down in the child’s own words including names that were mentioned, time and place of disclosure and place and background of the disclosure. Also its very important for parents to know that who is looking after they child and the main areas of gaining trust is by having an CRB enhance disclosure completed so every staff should be CRB check and no other person should be left alone with children e.g.
ECM is important as it protects children from discrimination and harm. The CASHE Statement of Values insures that all CASHE students act in a responsible manner towards the children and parents and insures that the child is always put first. The statement supports children as it has a list of criteria that all CASHE students must follow in order to maintain confidentiality and protect children in their care. This relates to my placement as is provides my supervisors with guidelines that they can make sure I follow. The statement is important because it protects children form mistreatment from CASHE students.

Just to always love the child to the fullest and make them feel like they are somebody in this world.
A relationship in which a child or young person completely trusts and respects you and feels comfortable in your company, allows you to be able to offer the child or young person a supportive, caring environment in which they can learn and develop. Listening to them is one of the most important ways in which to establish a respectful and professional relationship with a child or young person. By you listening, without interrupting them, shows them that you value what they are saying and that their opinions are important. You should show them that you are interested in what they have to say and should also take an interest in the child or young person themselves. Take an interest in their likes and dislikes, and ask them about their hobbies etc, to show you are interested.
Article 37 says no one is allowed to punish or degrade a child. Every Child Matters also state that children should be treated fairly and also given choices of what they want in life. the five out comes which mattered most to children and young people as stated in the Every Child Matters are: being healthy, staying safe, enjoying and achieving, making a positive contributions and economic well being. We as Educators are well trained and passionate. We value, respect and appreciate this uniqueness.
