Sitting in traffic is one of the worst time consumers of the day. We all dislike wasting our time sitting in traffic when we are late for a meeting or late for a sporting event. My parents have worked with the Department of Transportation in Pinellas County for years and this has been the steaming question for their whole time there “How can we make travel on our roads better and smoother?” Many of their associates have thought that maybe if they just expand the more traveled roads that the ride would become less congested. This may have worked in the short term, but what they did not expect was the 42% increase in population over the last 30 years (US Census). Over the last decade or so, the department of transportation in the Tampa Bay area has proposed and idea for a monorail type system for the main areas of business in St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and Tampa.
The chances of getting hit by a car when jaywalking is very high, as the driver does not expect the pedestrian to cross the street where there is no traffic light. Jaywalking is dangerous for both the pedestrian and the driver; the driver may lose control of the car when trying to avoid hitting the pedestrian, while the car may hit the pedestrian. Secondly, is the long wait for the traffic light to change a valid reason to jaywalk? I think not. This is a mature society; we all should have enough patience to wait for three to four minutes for a “green man” signal, because I believe that all of one’s life efforts are not worth sacrificing for just four minutes of convenience.
The first reason why getting tough on criminals does not work is because for the most part, they are not deterred You must Login to view the entire essay. For smaller crimes such as parking violations and speeding tickets, deterrence seems to work because people committing these crimes are not considered criminals, rather law abiding citizens who have made a mistake and are aware of the punishment. The fact that the penalty for armed robbery has gone up to twelve years from nine years does not pass through a criminals mind because they genuinely do not expect to be caught for the crimes they commit.
This would decrease the number of accidents a great deal. When every state passes legislation on cell phones the roads will be safer. People need to take the time and make phone calls either parked, or before or after going to their next location. Society also needs to understand that text messaging may be convenient but the message cannot be so important that it cannot wait 10-15 minutes before being answered. There are thousands of car accidents because the operator is not paying attention to the road; when a car suddenly breaks it just takes a second to notice, and if you as a driver is choosing to be on
Joel King Writing 115 Final draft November 16, 2010 Teen Curfews Yes or No? Picture this, a young man is out late at night coming home from work, walking on the side of the road minding his own business, due to the fact he can’t afford a car and lives close enough to make the stroll. The young man is stopped by an officer and fined for violating a teen curfew law. See a problem with this? Some people seem to think there is.

To:The Honorable Mayor of the City of Birmingham From:Kristie D. Church Date:July, 10, 2012 Re:Policy recommendation allowing juvenile offenders to join the military instead of going to prison EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Due to the lack of job opportunity and the increasing amount of youth dropping out of school, the trend of youths committing criminal acts is a rapidly growing problem. Some of these acts can be attributed to substance abuse, neglect, inadequate education, mental or physical abuse or a lack of discipline or positive family structure. A few may even commit criminal acts due to boredom or peer pressure. Whatever the reason might be, it is evident that the threat of jail does not carry the weight that it once held and alternative measures should be considered. A positive approach to this situation should be to offer the alternative of joining the military.
However, this does not mean that students should be encouraged to work very hard at night and then just take it easy in class the next day. College students should understand by now that they need to manage their time wisely. That means that they should not put off essay-writing until the night before the due date. They should not cram a study session the night before the test. Some students have especially terrible reasons for falling asleep in class.
I understand his idea, but the fact is that uniforms did not help the students. One of the critical reasons parents believe that students to wear school uniforms is that uniforms provide safety for students. What they mean is that it will eliminate bullying and violence in schools since students will not judge each other on what they wear. Parents also mention that since all the students wear the same uniform, it is easier to identify people that are not from the school, creating a better safety for the students. Another important reason parents explain is that in a uniform-worn high school, students seem to act more discipline.
This law is known to prevent a third of wrecks in new drivers. I don’t think any adult would argue with this law, but I’m sure a teenager has other things in mind. When it comes to a driving law like this they might argue about it but in the end it might just be what keeps them alive. The third law is a teenage driver cannot be out from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. unless with a parent. This Is a law mainly because of curfew for teens.
