Ibrayeva Aigerim TFL 1A The key social and cognitive changes during adolescence. Adolescence is a time of many transitions for both teens (adolescent) and their families. To ensure that teens and adults navigate these transitions successfully, it is important for both to understand what is happening to the teen physically, cognitively, and socially; how these transitions affect teens; what adults can do; and what support resources are available. As you read the following information, keep in mind that while all teens develop, they don’t all follow the same timeline. Throughout this stage there appear physical & psychological changes in adolescent. And I also would like to demonstrate cognitive development according to Piaget & Erickson’s theory of social development. This different & main developments & changes sometimes run into problems like depression & suicide, criminal behaviour & eating disorders. As the result I’m going to use the first, common problem in adolescence. Now let’s talk about the history of adolescence. Actually, this term was coined by G.S.Hall in 1904 who studied the effects the changing nature of society was having on the perception of childhood & young adulthood as a separate & distinct periods of human development. Last 150 years are varying from previous ones with increasing industrialization. People produce bread, wool, cloth & other commodities instead of “cottage industry”. So, as the steam engine, feats of engineering began to influence the way the products were made, so people changed from working from home within specialized manufacturing units, mills, factories. Alongside, this extended the efficiency & availability of long distance travel.
