Erikson’s (1950) original formation saw adolescent development as “a universal epigenetic sequence of development,” of which the primary task is the formation of identity (Schwartz & Montgomery, 2002, p. 360; Chen & Farruggia, 2002). However, recent generations of adolescents have more cultural diversity. In addition, Carol Gilligan (1988) theorized that gender differences affected human development.
Thus, they can provide instruction in therapeutic techniques focused on behavioral modification. The law can be applied relative to the enactment of policies based on the NCLB Act that include parental choice in school settings (Merrifield, 2000), school size (Cotton,1 996), and services for children with special needs (keepkidshealthy.org). According to Merrifield, many analysts have argued for parental choice in developing educational practices. The factors they cite as significant in the parental choice debates consist of having more access to what students are being taught. Foremost among the concerns and of interest to child development specialists are practices of socialization and culturally-relevant educational practices and programs.
The way to do this is to determine the function of a behavior, put in action an individual behavioral support plan, be consistent with it, and maintain the results once you acquire them. The three risk factors that I will be discussing are substance abuse during pregnancy, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and family factors and parenting styles. There are two broad categories for risk factors for challenging behavior, biological and environmental.
