She astonished the public as a sex symbol, along with her good looks, charm, and a fun personality. She also left an amazing legacy to the world as one of the most famous women in the world. This attention and fame immortalized her and she has become so beloved by our society ever since. That gives her the power to persuade anyone into buying anything that is advertised with her name in it. I believe this vintage ad is effective because Marilyn is promoting the KOOL Cigarettes brand. During the late 1950’s and early 1960’s many people smoked and women started to do so too. Having a women known to be beautiful and sexy attracted many women in particular to buy this brand. They want to be just like her because she was an idol for many women who aspired to be like Marilyn Monroe. The point of advertisements has always bee to try and link people’s logic, credibility, and emotions into buying a product or service. And it turns out to be very effective. In this vintage KOOL Cigarette ad, they convince people into buying their brand by appealing to logos. Logos refers to the internal consistency of a message. It is the logic behind the reason, which is very effective when you want to support your evidence. The reasoning behind this advertisement is to lure the audience into buying the product by using the world-renowned actress Marilyn Monroe. Using this appeal will cause many people to buy this specific cigarette brand instead of others. Another way that advertisements may attract people is by using an ethical appeal.
