Many believed that people graduating from high school were still kids and were too young to be thrown into such a “grown up” and high profile situation. Few believed he would succeed and felt players “should be required to grow and develop in college the years after they graduate high school to allow them to grow and develop both physically and mentally” (Hilton). This marks the first significant event in the transformation of Kobe Bryant’s public identity in a negative way, and the beginning of Bryant’s path to perseverance. Skip to four years later and to the first NBA championship for Bryant, who was now an all-star, and the Lakers alongside Shaquille O’Neal which silenced any doubt about Bryant’s maturity or work ethic due to his age, changing his public image to a superstar. He now had all the sponsors and fame chasing him along with all the money that comes with it.
Michael Jordan Hall of Fame induction Ladies and gentlemen we are here today to honor a special man, Michael Jordan, on his accomplishment into the Hall of Fame. Making it this far is not only hard, but it’s a privilege and a dream. Every player that plays in the NBA doesn’t get inducted into the Hall of Fame. There have been a lot of great players inducted in the past like Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Wilt Chamberlain, and Jerry West. Now we can add Michael Jordan name to the list of players I just named.
Entrepreneurs work on their business rather than in their business (McGuckin, 2005). Kathy needs to be an entrepreneur and lead the business rather than operate in it. Stakeholder Perspectives Kudler Fine Foods has many stakeholder interests and values to consider in any changes that are implemented in order to remain successful. These different stakeholders include customers, employees, vendors and Kathy Kudler and are outlined in Table 2. Kathy would like to build the company up to a point so that in the next few years she’s able to retire (Kudler strategic plan, 2003).
Dwayne Wade is my definition of a hero. You may know him from when he drives to the basket or pulls up a last second buzzer beater, but he’s a lot more than a basketball star. He’s a role model. Growing up, Dwayne had to deal with divorced parents. He lived with his mother until he was eight and then moved in with his dad.
Collins was drafted and hired for the same reason, to restore the winning tradition of the franchise. Collins was a very successful player for the 76ers, but due to injuries was forced to retire the summer before the title won in 1983. Collins is considered one of the best coaches, however there are certain aspects of his coaching style I disagree with. For example, Jrue Holiday should not have been named the point guard because the position doesn’t fit his capabilities. He wants to be known for making the big plays, instead of distributing the basketball to his teammates.
What good does Jill’s degree do then? The cartoon points out that sometimes degrees don’t even matter. If you attend college and pursue a major not currently in demand, then what good does the degree you earn do? Today, picking and choosing majors wisely is important. With the expense of college continuing to rise, most people cannot afford to pursue something they will not make money and benefit from later on.
No one else could lead one team to six championships in one decade, and would have come out of retirement twice to come back to the game of basketball. That shows true love for the sport and the continuous stride to always get better as Michaels parents taught him. Michael was one of a kind person, and no matter how many people wanted to be like him no one could. He is one of a kind; he is the one and only Michael
He was the son of Polish-American parents William Krzyzewskiach and Emily M, his mother was a cleaning woman, his father an elevator operator. His family lived in a two story house with relatives. From an early age Mike showed a passion for sports, but by high school he was focused on basketball. In high school he made such an impact on the game he was scouted and recruited
Going to school may mean success for one person while waking up early and going to the gym may mean success to another. Here is a great example of success which does not include wealth. One of my friends was very talented at playing basketball and he wanted to play on his high school’s basketball team, but his parents were not supportive. They were afraid that he would not be able to focus
Basketball Dreams Jabarri Smith is a young talented basketball player who could be drafted in the NBA, if he plays his cards right. Jabarri isn't your typical teenager; he comes from a family of poverty and was raised by his single mother who lives in a two-bedroom apartment with his three younger siblings. Jabarri's mom works day and night to provide for her children and is hopeful that one day Jabarri could be a professional basketball player for the NBA and save them from poverty. Jabarri knows he's good at basketball and is one of the top high school players in Northern California; however, his grades aren't so great. Everyone knows Jabarri could have a great future and has many options from going to college then getting drafted or going straight to the NBA.
