The dancers must use many senses in order to perform. Three of the key senses that they use are her audition, kinesthesis and vestibular, and vision. They need all of these senses in order to perform to the best of their abilities, as each sense plays a crucial role in their performance. The first sense that the dancers must before they can even audition, is audition. Audition is the dancer’s sense of hearing. Since they need to be able to hear in order to follow the rhythm and tempo of the music, they need to be able to hear and feel the music, in order to move in tune with it. They would also need their auditory senses in order to hear the cues and know what they were supposed to do next. When one person is singing the line “God I hope I get it, I hope I get it!” this might be a cue for the some of the dancers to start a certain step routine. The second sense that they must have is there kinesthesis. Kinesthesis is the dancer’s sense of body position and movement. Another sense that goes along with this sense is their vestibular sense, which is the persons sense of balance and also the movement of your head. With both of these combined, the dancers are able to move and position themselves during the performance as need be. They are able to achieve a sense of balance and have purpose with their movements. Without these, dancing would not be possible. Lastly I want to talk about vision. Vision is what connects and ties together many of the other senses. In order for the dancers to see, the eye carries the optic nerve impulses to the brain. The optic nerve will tell the brain all the necessary information about the size, depth, and motion of what it is seeing. Once it has all of this information. The most important thing that vision does for the dancers is allow them to see depth perception and motion, which is also known as parallel processing The eyes have
