It is clearly presented by his use of pathos, “I knew that I never wanted to see that fear of me again in the eyes of any of my children,” (Lynch 104). After seeing the look in his son’s eyes he had to face the fact that he was an alcoholic and find help. He explained the way he felt after realizing his children were just as afraid of his disease, and that awareness propelled his sobriety. After many years of drinking, Lynch knew the obvious signs of alcoholism which he caught in his son. It was not a reality that he was ready to deal with so he brushed it off as nothing.
FATHER/SON RELATIONSHIP Blacky’s relationship with his father is integral in moulding the adolescent that he is. Although the relationship between the two is clearly negative, it somewhat helps him to look past the fatherly influences, and to seek positive role models to assist him through the journey to maturity. Blacky’s self-esteem levels are low due to the negative relationship and he expects no support from his father. His relationship with his mother, the relationships he develops with other men assist Blacky in developing the courage to stand up for what he believes in. During the course of the novel of ‘Deadly Unna?’ the readers are exposed to the negativity between the father and his son.

The author's use of words and consistent repetition stresses certain faults of the work oriented man that are generally overlooked. "He worked himself to death, finally and precisely..." (1) "This man who worked himself finally and precisely..."(10) Goodman uses the word "finally" as if his death has been waited upon, or expected. Almost as if it was a relief when his death arrived, she expresses her opposition to his lifestyle. She repeats the word "precisely" to give the reader a sense of time, and further implies that being the working man that he is, his life was on schedule. Like the company, life went on fine without him.
Tittle chose to continue playing football even when he has injuries because that is what he had already started. He also made a comeback after his injuries healed when his wife opposed of him playing football all over again. Both of the quotes have the same meaning but then since it was written by two different people, the way the person said it was different from each other. Tittle is just like Atticus because Atticus was helping a black client and almost all of the people in Maycomb did not like the fact that he helped the black client, especially Aunt Alexandra. She called Atticus a “nigger-lover” just like how Tittle’s wife disagree with him playing football again right after he recovered his injuries from the past.

He decided to take his own life as a result of a lifelong struggle to help his clan by being a strong and hardworking man, in an attempt to distance himself from his weak and unsuccessful father’s reputation. The point I am making here is that Okonkwo’s tragic life story is a rather complex and heartfelt one. Achebe spends 24 chapters developing Okonkwo’s character only to have some white colonialist sum up his troubled life in a “reasonable paragraph”. This shows the Commissioner’s racist attitude toward African people. In his mind, African people are savages and less human than whites.
When someone has committed to spend their life with another person, they have two people to care for, themselves and their partner. Even though I believe marriage is a beautiful experience, it can make one forget about themselves and their life aside from their wife or husband. I know firsthand, that this can have drastic consequences. A few years ago my dad was diagnosed with diabetes and instead of treating it as recommended; he ignored the issue until it significantly affected his family’s life and himself. Because my dad was too busy raising and caring for his own family, he did not give himself enough attention and as an effect to his diabetes, he became extremely violent, which almost caused my parents to divorce.
