This paper will judge how Volvo Car Corporation integrated the cloud infrastructure into its networks. This paper will explain how Volvo Car Corporation transforms data into knowledge. It will identify the real-time information systems implemented and evaluate the impact of these implementations. Finally, this paper will argue how the Big Data strategy gives Volvo Car Corporation a competitive advantage. Judge how Volvo Car Corporation integrated the cloud infrastructure into its networks. Volvo was successful in integrating the cloud infrastructure into its networks by creating vehicles that are, in effect, highly connected, data-rich IT environments. With hundreds of sensors and CPUs embedded throughout the car, from the brakes to the central locking system, data is now being captured for use within the vehicle itself, and also, increasingly, for transmission via the cloud back to the manufacturer. Above all, it is being used to optimize manufacturing processes, enhance customer interaction and boost safety. Explain how Volvo Car Corporation transforms data into knowledge. Volvo is able to transform data into knowledge by splicing that data together, Volvo is pre-warned about potential issues such as mechanical problems that might have shown up later in the field. So, very early in a car’s lifecycle, Volvo is able to spot patterns of imperfection that may indicate a potential flaw in a particular part before a customer is exposed to the issue. By applying a set of well-honed lean processes, Volvo is immediately able to resolve the problem by adjusting its manufacturing process or going back to its suppliers to request improvements, and they can do so long before it gets out into, perhaps, 500,000 units. Three things are accomplished in this: it’s a much less expensive thing to do; few, if any, customers are impacted, and
