Also the ocean is so beautiful and unforgettable. The sounds of the waves coming from the massive deep blue ocean and washing up on the shore of the white sand beach, or the sound of them crashing up against the sharp jagged rocks of the coast line are soothing. Something about the rhythmic timing of each wave causes a relaxing sensation and can almost put you into a deep sleep. The sleep would be hard to come out, not because it’s impossible but only because you wouldn’t want to. Although some individuals may find them extremely annoying I enjoy the sound of the sea gulls on the beach.
People come from all over the island to dive here, since the water is extremely clear allowing you to see all the different sea life. When the tide is low, small tide pools are created. My children can spend numerous hours playing in the pools. They’re either looking at all the colorful fish that are trapped or just sitting in the pools, cooling off from the hot Okinawa sun. Sometimes they get overly excited going from one pool to another and slip on the coral reef, which can put a damper on all the fun.
The heady sensation stirred images of zealous summertime fun. If any person would close his eyes under the bright sunny rays and inhale the potent aroma, a smile would undeniably follow. This mesmerizing saltwater perfume could immediately put the disheartened mind into a delightful mood. While amiably strolling along, the ambience was overwhelmingly relaxing as the deep cobalt waters reflected the azure sky. The surrounding was merely breached by the breath taking horizon.
The novel begins with a rich description of the setting. Steinbeck uses descriptive language to indicate that the area is a place of rest. The specific colors, foliage, and animals that are mentioned create a respite, even for those boys and men from the ranches who beat a path to the water. For example, Steinbeck uses the following images to suggest that this place is a place of comfort and that the Salinas River is a sanctuary. Examples: • “The water is warm too, for it has slipped twinkling over the yellow sands in the sunlight before reaching the narrow pool” (p.1).
On the beach they will be the ones playing in the sand and feeling the warm sun on their backs. These people are the ones that touch everything before they buy it. They will not worry if their environment is cluttered or messy, because they can not see it but feel it is okay. Language clues for the kinaesthetic are words like touch, smooth, gentle, move, warm, cool, solid, hold, these become more noticeable during relaxed and comfortable conversation, and they do not know what you are looking for. Lateral eye movement in this modality is usually down to the right.
One of the many activities that lots of people enjoy is tanning at the beach. Unlike in winter, summer activities involve sun and an open space. Something that everyone enjoys about summer is the sun and the heat that they feel while doing activities. Unlike the winter activities the, summer activities can keep people outside for a long period of time. To enjoy an activity during summer or winter you have to know the ups and downs.
Usually, the smell of salt waters from Santa Monica beach has never been a good thing. Nonetheless, it was calling. The sand was filled with thousands of tiny shells. It only was a problem when the wind blew because they hit your skin like being poked in the leg with thousands of needles. Yet, seeing the blue clear waters made that all ok.
Families go to the swimming area to the west since it’s blocked off from the rest of the lake for safety. Children have a great time playing in the water and building sand castles on the beach. It’s a perfect place for beachgoers that are in a land-locked valley. The water is clear and warm in the middle of summer. The beach is sandy with some bigger pebbles and your feet just sink into it.
Lots of people go to the beach to swim and cool off. There are lemonade and hot food stands everywhere. Sometimes it is so hot that a heat advisory is called which means that people should not go out unless they really have to. Cold and heat are also therapeutic. Cold can reduce muscle spasms that come from joint problems or irritated nerves.
THE COMPOUND by S.A Boden if filled with many exciting parts. My favorite part was when Eli and Eddy reunited in the end of the book when they also find out that there as no war. The setting in this part is he beach of Hawaii. Here is a quote from the book. “Eddy and I spend a lot of time on the beach, watching cocoa chase Lucas and Carla in and out of the waves as Quinn sits in the sand, throwing handfuls into the air and screeching.” I think the main idea of this story is that things are not always what they seem.
