This activity hampers the revenues of the music and movie industry because of illegal content sharing and distribution throughout the globe via the Internet. Ethical challenges also extend to those who chose to download illegal material and furthermore set up shop to sell and distribute music and movies.

In the article, “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” in the magazine The Atlantic, the author, Nicholas Carr, recounts his complications with concentration while reading extended articles and books. He claims these difficulties may be caused by an increased time on the internet. He thinks it changes the way we think and it is affecting our brain. People are losing concentration easier than before internet was created.

I do believe that technology has made our lives easier, but it also has made us more dependent on the technology itself. When using the internet for a dictionary you could easily get distracted. Anyone can put anything on the internet, so what you find might not be accurate. Most people find that looking things up on the internet is distracting because you are already on the web so why not check YouTube for a funny video, or update your status on the social network.

Based lobbying arm of the commercial casino entertainment industry (Jr., 2006). This paper’s main focus is on the illegal gambling, but it focuses even more on online gambling.
Carr thinks that excessive use of the internet might cause permanent changes to the way our brains work and we don’t have to remember as much, because we have RAM (Random Access Memory). Carr suggests that due to all the choices and distractions the internet provides its user whilst searching for information, it ‘turns us back to our native state of distractedness’ (Carr 373). Carr feels like due to the constant quick thinking skills that the internet demands us to have; we are losing our higher order cognitive abilities gained from focus reading such as from a book. Our ability to think in a creative and reflective way is diminishing. Carr feels the automatic way of thinking means we are ‘losing our mental discipline’ (Carr 375).
