TEAM LEADER JOB DESCRIPTION REPORTING TO: nurse in charge or Registered Manager JOB PURPOSE: To work alongside their team and the trained nurse in the provision of client care. To act as a member to other carers by example and support in their supervision, development and appraisal. JOB DESCRIPTION: • Organise and control other Care Assistants throughout a shift of work. • Assist in the formal supervision of other carers. • Assist the trained nurse in the appraisal of other carers. • Take on the role of key worker for a group of clients. • Assist a trained nurse in the administration of medicines. • Respect the individual rights and choices of clients. • Respond to the differing cultural values and diversity of clients. • Ensure the health and safety of clients. Report any health and safety issues or equipment failures to Manager. • Communicate effectively with colleagues and managers. • Provide personal care to clients with regard to their daily living needs. • Contribute to the therapeutic and social programmes offered to individual clients. • Carry out manual handling in accordance with training and in house policy. • Assist clients to live a normal lifestyle including sleeping at night. • Assist clients in retaining memory and life skills. • Assist or supervise clients at mealtimes ensuring that they have a satisfactory intake of nutrition consistent with their preferences and needs. • Dispose of waste safely and in accordance with care home policy. • Providing the best level of care to all residents in a way that promotes dignity, privacy, safety and independence • Working with the Care Home Manager to ensure that systems and standards are maintained at a high quality level • Providing support, motivation and supervision of care assistants providing care
