Working as members of a healthcare team, they take medical histories, examine and treat patients, order and interpret laboratory tests and x rays, and make diagnoses. They also treat minor injuries by suturing, splinting, and casting. PAs record progress notes, instruct and counsel patients, and order or carry out therapy. Physician assistants also may prescribe certain medications. In some establishments, a PA is responsible for managerial duties, such as ordering medical supplies or equipment and supervising medical technicians and assistants.
Medical Assistants should have a friendly, pleasant personality, and should work to put patients at ease and calm their fears. An AMA should also empathize with her patients and show concern for their things. A
For example, I display compassion daily just by holding the hand of a patient who is dying or who is displaying anxiety towards a procedure. When working with patients of all types, I show compassion. This helps facilitate the nurse-patient relationship and builds trust. Third, nurses have a commitment to keep current in knowledge. According to McEwen and Willis, “implementation of evidence based practice in nursing is still evolving, as often, nursing interventions are based on experience, tradition, intuition, common sense, and untested theories (2014, p. 263).
They were Total Compensation. If nursing care only included the nurse assisting the patient with care, and patient able to some care, this was known as Partial. But if the patient is able to take care of themselves and is able to move around, then the nurse primary role is educating the patient in health practices. This was under : Educative/Support. Her goal was not only for nurses to provide care for their patients but for nurses to observe to see if there was any deficit that could contribute to the
One oncology nurse may work with children while another administers Chemotherapy to adults, it all varies. Oncology Nurses work in clean and sterile hospital environments, some may work in community based clinics and medical offices. Every kind of nurse works with people, especially Oncology Nurses they try to save peoples lives. Oncology nurses work with their hands and head. APPLY EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION IN NURSING Nurses communicate on a variety of levels, using a range of channels, in the clinical environment with patients, their relatives and significant others as well as multi-disciplinary health care staff to deliver optimal health care commonly using interpersonal, small-group and organizational communication. During nursing communication different strategies are employed to verbally and non-verbally send and receive information to effectively deliver healthcare, convey empathy, follow policies, procedures and standards relating to communication and to encourage the therapeutic relationship. (Funnell, Koutoukidis & Lawrence 2009, pp. 446 - 447) Nurses need to be skilled and possess self-awareness in order to create effective therapeutic relationships with patients from a diverse range of backgrounds. Additionally, nurses must be factual, descriptive and contemporaneous in communications of patient information with colleagues.
In the PACU the nurses there received report from Cindy, which included the anesthetics used, fluids administered, and background information for the patient. The PACU nurses then performed an assessment of vital signs to ensure that the patient remained stable, and attached the patient to a blood pressure monitor and pulse oximeter. I learned a lot from this experience. The most important thing I learned from this experience is that everyone in the room during an operation must be on the same page and must function as a team. If anything is not orchestrated correctly or if things go unsaid this could cause dire circumstances for the patient.
Medical Imaging is the technique and process used to create images of the human body for medical procedures seeking to reveal, diagnose, or examine disease to provide treatment. On my many rotations throughout the different departments in medical imaging, I observed the different machines, and tests provided by the machines, and how the technicians performed the procedure to produce the image. The MRI, CAT/CT scans, ultrasound, mammography, x-rays, and nuclear medicine studies are the main tests of medical imaging. Safety precautions, observation and documentation, and the use of computer technology in this department are all important aspects of medical imaging that are used and acknowledged on a day to day basis in the clinic. The use of machinery and different tests in this department is a major contribution in diagnosing and finding an appropriate treatment for patients.
L&D registered nurses collaborate with physicians and other health care providers to provide the best plan of care for each patient” (Davis, 2011). Having the ability to make a woman's labor and delivery go as smooth as possible, and to ensure that the experience may be remembered in a positive way is something that is particularly important to me. I will never forget the nurses who took care of me during my stay at the hospital for the
Therefore, this is why I am choosing to major in nursing. The reason I want to be a Registered Nurse is so I can help people. The job duties of a nurse are to assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. Also, Registered Nurses administer nursing care to the ill, injured convalescent, or disabled patients. Lastly, they may advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management.
