On the other hand, offering a better policy for remaining workers may conflict with the cost-cutting effort, but satisfying workers can benefit company’s long-run business. Conveying these messages plays an important role in company’s success. If the company has a good solution, it can soften the anger of those who get fired, and make the remaining workers work effectively. However, an ineffective solution can depress people who are fired and worry the remaining employees, so it may create an ineffective working environment. Alternatives The company has at least two alternatives to deal with this problem.
Ethics play a role in everyday business. Company executives attempt to build a profitable organization but unethical decisions lead to the demise of organizations because of greed and power. Penn Square Bank and Dow Corning both made decisions in their business that started out making millions of dollars but in the end cost the companies more than possibly imagined. Because of the unethical decisions made by both companies they acquired large losses of money by one filing bankruptcy, and the other closing down. Not only were there large losses of money for both companies, but the loss of reputation as well.
The growth strategy of capturing market share and growing revenue to increase business presence in the market was achieved for Service Experts. When the founders though that they had a proven business module and growth strategies in place they decide to take the company public to further increase capital and obtain growth. All of these strategies proved to be a win success for the company, for it grew to revenues of $60 million after going public. What did Abrams franchise? Why does the research show that buying a good franchise is less risky than starting a business?
Without customers, there is no business and this will hurt this large company in the long-term. Not only is it right for the company to give more consideration to their employee’s desires but it will also contribute to the bottom line. Their customer will know the value of their company and employees will be more productive in what they do and proud of who they work for. Wal-Mart makes an average of $245 billion in revenues; therefore they have the resources to treat employees fairly. It is important for their corporation to take care of their workers and have a reputation of treating them fairly, which is important to the customers.
Perhaps they believe that the employees are contributing to the revenue losses and are stealing merchandise. These are all self destructive in nature and could impact their ability to remain in business and keep good employees. Making the decision to close two stores without adequate justification drastically reduces it footprint in the market place. It appears that either the store supervisor or manager is not engaged with the employees and consumers; do not have sufficient training on company ethics policies to enforce them; or they do not have a fully robust ethics program in place to address to ongoing issues. PART B Company Q can take some immediate steps which I believe would turn a downward trend in to positive results.
Blitz is a small specialty shop chain owned by Dalman and Lei. The strength of Lei and Dalman committing to a large scale expansion of the company is the fact they have a strong business plan in place that is showing success. By opening a chain outside of their current city this would allow Blitz to appeal to a wider range of customers. Expanding within the same area this may cause a cut in the amount of customers that visit other established shops but they still missing out on money that could be earn by spreading their wings more. A weakness of Blitz committing to a large scale expansion is the fact that their current business plan seems to be working just fine because they have made their first link of chain the training camp for their new hires.
ESTI: Ethical Situations in Business – Task 1 * Part A After evaluating Company Q’s current attitude toward social responsibility in my opinion is that Company Q has a negative attitude. Changing the negative attitude towards social responsibility into a positive one could have a positive effect on Company Q. The company seems to be driven by profit because of the two stores being in high crime rate areas and obviously lost revenue. Management’s idea towards this type of loss seems to be to take the easy way out and close the stores that are not making any profit instead of finding solutions to help resolve the issues. When Company Q finally started offering better quality and more health conscience and organic food options after years of their customers requesting that they do so.
However, many employees chose to left the firm despite the retention bonus which points towards lack of attention to hygiene factors. The financial crisis and the looming possibility of inevitably losing their jobs may have caused dissatisfaction among those employees. In addition, by analysing the behaviour of AIG employees after receiving the retention bonus many of their needs can be conceptualized in the context of the need hierarchy. Many of the employees feared strong response from the public if
The employees may feel a certain way about the layoff of the co-workers and also it may effect how they work. Also another thing is the loss of valuable and knowledgeable employees may affect others too. The new hire people will have no one to ask if they do not understand or know how to perform a task asked of them. This can cause serious problems for productivity and for the patients at the clinic. The last disadvantage I think will be a problem to the Dodge Clinic is employees seeking employment elsewhere because they do not feel there job is secure.
Employee Motivation Theory Often times companies that struggle with the relationship between the employees and the goals of the organization; sometimes the moral of its employee is thread that sets the relationship apart. Managers have made several failed attempts to establish that relationship with the employee to knit them together with the goals of the organization. Therefore, the company level of accomplishments is diminished. A good manager has learned good people skills, and often times he/she is able to motivate their employees to increase their output. It is important to be able to penetrate any barriers that the employee may have as a defense mechanism.
