Least restrictive principle The ethos of the setting is important, we need to consider the rules (too many, too strict, no rules etc..) Do we give enough responsibility to children? Do they get enough freedom? Reinforcing positive behaviour Children are more influenced by positive reinforcement than by punishment. Good behaviour is more likely to be repeated if it is rewarded in some way. Timing is very important, we need to give a reward (praise, stickers, extra attention) straight after they have done something good, otherwise it will be forgotten by the child very quickly.
Using SEI Strategies in a SIOP Lesson Plan Fawn L. Stevens Grand Canyon University: ESL 533N February 17, 2014 The class is learning about Native Americans. I am working with their science, language arts and math teachers. All the other teachers are also discussing Native Americans in their classes. Today's lesson is about the Navajo Indians. The students will be conducting research in a small group setting on some basic facts about the Navajo Indians and presenting their findings to the class when they are done.
They form bonds as a group together rather than being forced together. They want to succeed for the whole group as it is a morale boost for everyone to do well and improve cohesiveness. While on the other hand a group that doesn’t want to work together and doesn’t form a loyalty/bond with one another will ultimately put the whole group’s goals behind them and work for themselves. “Related directly to good communication skills are good listening skills. These skills are extremely important in the communication world.” (Ellis, 2009) 3) This basically says that without listening in a group people will never get their opinions heard and ultimately let down the group.
Poor communication will make people feel at least let down and ignored to very angry and upset. The better the communication the better people work together and the better people’s needs are recognised and taken into account. 2.2 Describe the factors to consider when promoting effective communication There are many different factors to consider for effective communication, You have to take into account peoples basic understanding of the subject, If you talk down to people they will get upset yet if you don’t explain enough they won’t be able to follow and understand. Communication is best tailored to suit each person. Other factors to consider are: Language - there is no point in talking in computer code if the other party has never used one.
Leadership is another trait that can’t be easily developed, but only with thorough diligence and dedication. Eureka College can help develop those that desire more in the field of leadership and service. Being a good leader means you have the interpersonal strength to deal with difficult issues. Leadership qualities are desired but not easily attainable without outside help. The main idea that Eureka tries to convey to the student is that if you want to have a successful and productive life, then Eureka College can help you pursue that goal as long as you try hard and stay focused on your
Having visual aids and symbols as someone's preferred method of communication can break down the communication barrier by allowing the staff to understand the individual. A strength of having visual aids and symbols is that it allows for the individuals to be able to communicate with other people and have them be understood. However a weakness could be that their visual aids could be lost or that they are not been understood by the person they are trying to communicate with. Learning sign language and/or makaton can be beneficial to someone with additional needs as it may be the only way that the individual can communicate with other people. A strength of this will be that the individual will be able to communicate with other people and get their needs across and get help if they are needing it.
Exercise 1.1 Specific ways I need to change to be a more helpful person is to always look for the other person first and not just for myself. I have a tendency to put myself first instead of others and I really need to work on this quality. I have great listening skills and make eye contact but I don’t move around when I talk so I feel that would make me a more helpful person also because they would not be bored. Exercise 1.2 If I saw a professional with these labels I would think great they were except for the shrink because might make you think down on yourself instead of there to help you with your problems. These people are all very special and help to provide help in so many ways to help to get a job, a home, medical assistance, to just help with everyday living.
Attending a hypnosis session for the first time can be a scary thing because of all the mythology that a person probably has about hypnosis. Therefor this style is nurturing and is about giving a person choice by using words that are caring. For example, you might say to a person “You may or may not begin to notice that you’re breathing is beginning to relax”, or “you could make yourself as comfortable as possible”. These simple sentences are offering the client choice and making them feel in control and they will not feel a threat and there might not be implications to the conscious mind of the
Only through experience and proper research can a speaker effectively read the demonstrative communication of the audience. Poor execution of these skills can cause the message to be misunderstood or not delivered. The power of demonstrative communication can enable a speaker to perform better or prevent a message from being understood. The effectiveness of any type of communication lies with the sender. Cultural differences must be accounted for to prevent potential problems or misunderstandings.
It not only teaches your child that reading is important to you, but it also offers you important time together, a chance to talk about the book and issues that relate to the book. This opens up important lines of communication in your relationship! Go to the library. Find books about your child’s interests and read them together. Read a book about going to the dentist before your child’s next dental exam or get a book about trees and birds before a visit to the forest.
