They gave a good estimate of how my decisions would affect business performance for the upcoming quarter. I was able to look at the pro-forma statements and make adjustments in my decisions before moving into the next quarter. For example, in quarter 2, I had decided to not add another sales site due to not having enough cash on hand. After looking over the pro-forma statements, I realized that I would have enough money to add another location for the next quarter and still have more than $300,000 cash left over at the end of the quarter. Operating efficiency was improved using just-in-time and lean operations techniques.
In order to avoid making a further loss, if another recession was to occur again in the future, I would suggest that a reduction in employees would be beneficial for the business. By making this vital decision, they will be saving an immense amount of money as they will not be paying as much wages as they currently are. I would also recommend having more frequent special deals (such as ‘BOGOF’) as this will slowly but surely attract customers to spend their money in Tesco rather than another supermarket. However, these special deals should be genuine special deals as Tesco have been known to increase prices and then claim there is a special offer going on (See Appendix 34). Regarding political factors, I think the grants/loans which are borrowed by Tesco via the government would impact on the business negatively as they will have large sums of money to
In document 3, Harry Truman states that the developing countries not only need but also deserve the support of the developed countries to improve living conditions, food supply, disease control, and economic life. The significance of this article is that the author never states that the Green Revolution is the solution, he only points out that there is a problem and that the developed countries are what can solve it. Document 10 states that the nature of the seed the people of Latin America had been growing for thousands of years has lost respect due to the imposition of the Green Revolution. He later says how the revolution contaminated the seeds as well as the over all environment. The significance of this document is that the author is explaining how the Green Revolution has affected small countries and peoples in a bad manner and that the revolution did not help their situation.
People are far more likely to send an email or text message than writing someone a letter, so the USPS must adapt. Source A suggest that the post office needs to get into the electronic business. They could start by assigning each person an email address from birth. There are also a great number of ways to advertise online. They need to make it more well known that their lower prices are helpful in these economic times.
What happened if your car broke down? You wouldn’t be able to have anyone look at it until the next day. Overall, the Buy Nothing day would cause many complications for transportation. The idea may come up that if we put the Buy Nothing day to use in the United States, stores would not close down and it would help the society economically recover; however, stores may lose money and may not be able to recover. Some stores may depend on a daily consumers to buy from their stores.
One of the main things that employers will have to do in order to make money will be to reduce hours, limit job creation, and increase prices. Many believe the minimum wage jobs are not meant to be a career, they are transitional jobs. Therefore minimum wage employees should receive transitional pay. A vast majority of the employees who attain minimum wage jobs have families that are on welfare, so they may receive Link, W.I.C., and Section 8 living therefore their needs are taken care of if they live within their means. Major corporations like McDonald’s and Walmart will barely be affected by the increase but the small businesses will be a thing of the past and slowly but surely fade away.
Utilize Natural Resources Intelligently The world is dependent upon oil and America is leading the way in oil consumption. Many people reject the idea that there is a finite supply of oil in the world and they advocate extracting oil from wherever it lies, at all costs. One of the places being considered right now is the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). Drilling for oil in Alaska has been an issue of debate for over a decade. Proponents of Alaskan oil development argue it could reduce our dependence upon foreign nations and boost the economy.
Although this project is creating positive result, many people are still not sure of the value it would bring to Maldives. Some scientists have argued that just because there is carbon buried in the soil the nutrients will not stay there for any measurable amount of time. George Monbiot, a UK environmental commentator, stated that burying the carbon rich product in the soil will not at all
Unfortunately, the activity of burning or combusting fossil fuels releases various kinds of hazardous substances and pollutants which eventually leads to changes in the environment; such as climate change, global warming, and changes in environmental health. Let us start with the change in climate or climate change. For over the past 150 years, the burning of fossil fuels, such as coal and oil have caused the concentrations of heat-trapping "greenhouse gases" to increase significantly in our atmosphere. These gases prevent heat from escaping to space, somewhat like the glass panels of a greenhouse. It would change our climate, but it would not bring us close to the level of uninhabitable Venus.
Therefore, sometimes in the future we will run out of them. For this reason, fossil fuels are considered as non-renewable meaning that they are not replaced as soon as we use them. Moreover burning fossil fuels leads to pollution and many environmental impacts. Because our world depends so much on energy, we need to use sources of energy that will last forever – renewable energy, generating power from natural resources that are replenished on the earth. As we are theoretically reaching “peak oil”, “peak gas” etc.
