This paper will identify the Socio Cultural Environments associated with the Grocer industry. It will identify social cultural similarities and differences between the United States of America and the South Asian nation of India. The relations between each country in the field of grocer sales will be analyzed. The socio-cultural parts of each country will also be broken down to both compare likeness and differences between the two nations. Using the cultural cluster approach, India is categorized in the Far Eastern group, while the United States would be categorized in the Anglo countries group. The Republic of India is a country in South Asia; it is the seventh largest country by area and second most populous country with over 1.2 billion people. It is a relative new nation, founded in 1947. An interesting fact about this country is that is has no national language, instead it recognizes over 600 dialects. The United States of American (US) is a country located in North American, it was founded in 1776 and its one of the most culturally diverse nations on earth due to high worldwide immigration. Although diverse, English is the defacto official language of both the US and the non official language of the business world. It has a population of 315 million based on the 2012 census (US Census Dept) Socially India is a country greatly influenced by the Hindu religion. An example of how India is affected by religion (primarily Hindu)_ is analyzed by Geert Hofstede using his Five Dimensions of Culture (5D) India scores high on the Power Orientation, which is based on the inequality of the workforce, a mirror image of the caste system of the Hindu religion. Based on Hofstede’s comparison graph, both India and the United States have a lot in common in the masculinity/femininity 5D chart.
