Some say that it does not affect the teenagers because they will stop before they are 20, however, that is not the case. Once you start smoking it is almost impossible to stop and you have already infested your lungs with the puffs of smoke. The moment the tobacco enters your lungs you are putting your health in danger. Lung cancer, bronchitis, and heart diseases are all effects of smoking tobacco.

Sophie Zinolidis QUIT SMOKING Smoking is bad and we all know it. But not many knows why it’s so dangerous. They just know it’s a fact. And even more important, there are several bad things that comes with smoking and still so many people smoke. So why is smoking bad for you?
Marijuana use has many dangerous side effects even after one has stopped using the drug. According to McGuinness (2009), “Mood and cognitive effects of marijuana include exacerbation of depression and anxiety (including panic attacks), as well as memory problems that may persist for a month after last use” (p. 19). The facts surrounding the negative impact of smoking marijuana should be enough for anyone to not smoke the drug. Unfortunately people ignore the warnings about the negative impact mariujana has on the body. The warnings about marijuana use are most likely ignored because people, especially teens have not personally witnessed anyone suffer from the affects of marijuana addiction.

In 2012, about 577,190 Americans are expected to die of cancer,more than 1,500 people a day. Cancer is the second most common cause of death in the US, exceeded only by heart disease,accounting for nearly 1 of every 4 deaths. (American Cancer Society) B. Thesis Statement: Breaking the habit of smoking is the right way to go because smoking is not only harmful for you but it is also harmful to the people around you. II.
Even people who smoke do not like to walk past a cloud of smoke (Berg). Over the past two decades, medical research has shown that non-smokers suffer many of the diseases of active smoking when they breathe secondhand smoke. (“Secondhand Smoking Facts”). Secondhand smoke is obviously worse than even smoking and students and staff should not have to be exposed to such harmful chemicals while at school. Smoking should not be allowed on school properties or campuses.
It is safe to say that no amount of secondhand smoke is acceptable for a child to be around. We need to get more information out to the public and show the effects it has on not just their child but all children around. One inhale of side stream smoke can kill. Our government has banned smoking cigarettes in buildings such as restaurants so why not make a ban on smoking cigarettes in vehicles or around children
Smoking doesn’t make you cool or feel cool. In reality it’s smelly, it’s disgusting and it kills. Smoking cigarettes has the highest death rate in America today. As Brue Lee would say, I’m not this world to live up to peer pressure’s expectations; I am only here to live up to my own. So we decided to quit, well at least try to quit.
Second hand smoking is what it’s called. This affects a lot more people than many would expect. Second hand smoking can cause an increase of developing heart disease by 25 to 30%. It can also increase the risk for stroke by 20 to 30% (Smoking and Tobacco Use, 2014). The list of affects doesn’t stop there either.
Smokeless tobacco, also known as spit, snuff or chew, can have absolutely devastating results on the chewer. Some people use smokeless tobacco as an alternative to cigarettes. It is a misconception that chew tobacco is less hazardous to your health than cigarettes or cigars. The dangers of chewing tobacco are just as serious as smoking tobacco. It still contains nicotine and holds other dangerous chemicals, including 28 carcinogens (Mayo).
