Odland also mentions the rising costs can be traced back to the administrative side. With the high demand of students and influx in numbers, administrative costs rose as well. While financial aid is available and rather easy to obtain, many stipulations come along with that as well. Many middle class students fall between the college prices gaps due to the way the financial aid system is set up. It appears that the less college credit hours taken, the more aid a student receives, which in turns causes a student to graduate later than anticipated.
If we needed Average daily Attendance to determine what would or should be the proper funds attendance rates would lower the funds that would be allotted to my school and schools overall. We cannot control the attendance of others we can only encourage great attendance. The school districts that service and educate a large number of students are given more money because it is divided on a particular amount of money, or funds per student. In many under privileged areas they see more
This has resulted in more services being needed to support the continually ageing population. This is a problem due to the amount of finance needed to support them on this scale, meaning there is less money for other sectors such as education. As people are living longer, this care is required for longer, which causes the dependency ratio the rise. The dependency ratio is the relationship between the proportion of the population who are working and those who are dependent or not working. As the ageing population continues to grow, the dependency ratio will continue to rise and there the ratio of workers to dependents in unbalanced.
In both good times and bad, state governments have pushed more of the costs onto students, forcing many to take out big loans or be priced out of once affordable public colleges at a time when a college education is critical in the new economy. (NY
It also means more recognition per student and individual teaching. At Universities there is much less one on one time. Classrooms and lectures are fully crowded with hundreds of students per one teacher. Although, Community College cannot provide students with the same degrees that Universities can, "Most general ed. coursework that a University requires of its freshmen and sophomores can be taken at a Community College.
Say Hello to my Little Study Buddy Most adults will arguably tell someone college is ‘the time of your life’ but what they forget to mention is the hardships and stresses it actually brings. There is a whole new curriculum, much harder than a high school one, and for most people their first time living on their own. One must learn more material in a shorter length of time from difficult assignments that will require a majority of one’s leisure time. The harsh reality is that students without parental supervision will unfortunately want to waste their free time doing more entertaining things than cramming their brains with gratuitous amount of new statistics, formulas and information. Students will usually opt out of performing homework
Some believe that raising the minimum wage would hurt people by making it harder to find jobs, when it actually will create more job opportunities for Americans. How does our economy expect families to live comfortably making $7.25 an hour? With inflation constantly on the rise the worth of money is becoming less and less valuable. Why can we not raise the minimum wage if everything else is increasing in price? The minimum wage needs to be updated to correlate with the times and value of the American dollar.
These soft skills are: Basic Skills: Because of our educational system, most of us have not improved our reading skills further than college level. These basic skills are mainly responsible for 70% of our success but most schools fail to recognise this in their curriculum. Universities and colleges follow the same pattern as the schools and therefore make the same mistake of not encouraging or teaching these skills. Interpersonal Skills: Skills such as effective negotiations, goal settings are important to the project controls profession. Experiential Learning: The International Masters in Practising Management(IMPM), was founded by Henry Mintzberg.
A large concern to some students may have when considering attending college online is the fact that it may be harder to get personal help and learn the material through your professor. Without having any physical interaction with your professor, some hands on learners may struggle more than the students who learn well from reading the material on their own. The professor in online schools can still be very helpful; the students just have to take the initiative to ask for help when they need it. When attending a college on campus, some universities require their students to attend all classes, while others leave it as an option. It is
There are more important class than one that requires students run around for an hour, and the fact that all students are put into one class, rather than being separated by physical level of fitness and skill in sports, only makes it all the more unfair. To add to it, the class seems to take priority over other classes. Why should students that plan on pursuing a career in music be forced to spend their time in a gym class? While completely removing gym from the school course isn’t a great idea, allowing it to be a chosen class rather than a required class could help students focus on their own goals. School enforces a healthy lifestyle, and that makes sense and is a good goal for schools to have.
