Why Cell Phones Should be Used in School. In school's today we are constantly wanting to like the newest post or reply to the latest message. Cell phones have been crucial part of modern life and they have also been useful gadgets for students. With the technology we have today it is typical for students and staff to always have their phones on them. Some teachers allow the use of cell phones in class and some will take away the phone if seen.
I believe they should not just be permitted to use cell phones, they should be required to use them. Cell phones don’t just allow students to stay connected with family and friends, they are also an excellent learning resource, and they encourage the responsible use of technology. To begin with, cell phones make it possible for students to stay in touch with family and friends.A student can call home and ask a family member to bring them a forgotten assignment or lunch money or to come pick them up if they are sick. Also, cell phones allow parents to keep track of their children’s whereabouts before, during, and after school. And, of course, there’s always the possibility of a student needing to contact a parent because of a dangerous situation.
Also in most cases the students forget to turn off the volume to their cell phones which will then interrupt the class or test. The kids see it as fun chatting with their friends while they are in another class, but they don’t see all the important notes being missed. If the teacher is assigning homework or informing the class about an upcoming test the student will not hear, which will then lead to failure! Year after year more and more students get cell phones convincing their parents that it will come in handy in case of an emergency. But if anything urgent were to happen at school the student can go to the office and make a phone call there.
Cell Phones Affecting School In the twenty-first century, we have been bombarded with new technology and it has impact on every aspect of our life, including education. Technology advancement is one of the most essential factors for teenagers in western societies. It is booming and cell phones are only a fraction of this boom. With cell phones, adolescents are able to have an expanded social network that is not restricted by physical locations. For teens to interact with their peers, they only need to have cell phone contacts and the peer group experiences can be shared in virtually every place and time zone as long as they can access network coverage.
Teachers do not get mad about cell phones in class because they are mean, or don’t want students to socialize, but they do it for students benefit. They are trying to prepare students for the future and the lives we will go on to live after high school. If we don’t learn what we are supposed to during our high school years we will not be prepared for the advanced knowledge college or university offers us. After high school no one is going to tell us we aren’t allowed to use phones in class, but it is out loss if we don’t learn what we are supposed to. Teachers are only trying to prepare us for the real world.
Teachers are always looking for ways to bring technology into the classroom, but they probably did not have cell phones in mind when they started to follow that policy. Nowadays there are probably more kids that have cell phones in the classroom than those that do not, particularly in high school but in middle school as well. Cell phones create a new type of
It also is a teaching tool for them. It teaches them to be responsible and the measure of being independent. Having the responsibility of not losing their phone and keeping it charged. Also, if my children are away from home the cell phone can be used a security device to give me as a parent peace of mind. There is no reason why a person shouldn’t let someone know that they will be late, because majority of the people in the United States have cell phones.
They can also keep track of me, so I won’t be afraid of getting lost anymore. If they allowed elementary and high school students to have cell phones, I believe that it would be more convenient in their studies, since cell phones have the function of the internet. The students won't have to bring a laptop when they want to do research outside. The smart phones also have useful apps such as the dictionary, the schedule, and ibook. The dictionary app can to find the new vocabulary very quickly, the schedule app can remind your plans and the ibook app can allow you to choose what types of book you would want to read.
When eating dinner, doing homework, and even playing with their friends, a child will stop to answer a call or text message, young children don’t need any additional distractions in an already fast-paced, techno-crazed society. Proper use is a third factor for consideration in delaying the giving of a mobile phone. Your child needs to be old enough to understand when it is and isn’t okay to use their phone, and not to freely give their phone number out; the danger here should be obvious. Opponents of giving elementary age children a cell phone may argue that the phone helps them keep tabs on the kids. The use of electronic devises to track young children probably means the parent is allowing too much freedom or unsupervised activities at too young an age.
Cell phones are forbidden in high school, but in college you can talk on your cell phone between classes and occasionally you will find a teacher who allows you to use them in the classroom. High school teachers view students as children and therefore teach them as children while college professors look at students as adults, and as adults we have to be more responsible. As far as who is responsible for the work or making sure it gets completed, in high school the teachers have a tendency to be
