Finally, in my text I edit by proofreading and seeing if I have any more mistakes. I usually wait for a day to edit. That means I take a rest from my assignment and then come back to it the next day. This helps me edit, because then the next day I will have a clear and understanding mind to see my mistakes without difficulty. When I am done writing, I give my paper to my brother and a best friend to read my
My first teacher, Luljeta, was a big help to put me in the track. She made me read a book with alphabetic letters describing events a kid might do. After that, my ability to read, understand and interpretate in a right way has grown through the academic years. It took me long enough to reach the point of my real readings. I used to read more books that talked about the reality I lived in or science fiction.
I began to see how negative scripts could cause problems. Before I journal about myself and my English is poor. I feel awkward but I will feel strong with my writing. I would like to continue writing an English diary, about the things I have thought about during the day, and if someone can give me suggestions about my English writing. It will be a good practice for me to brush up my English.
My Reflections of the Secret Life of Walter Mitty Demetrius Drayton ENG 125 Introduction to Literature Instructor: Lyndsey Lefebvre 03/15/2014 In this essay, I will analyze one of the literary works from this week’s readings. The literature I had chosen is entitled The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Also, I will include why this literary work had captured my interest, using the terms and concepts from the text to support both explanations and interpretations. Using the analytical approach, I will describe and evaluate the meaning of the selected work. At the end of this essay, you may understand why The Secret Life of Walter Mitty captured my interest and why I have chosen to write this essay on this particular literature.
I tended to learn more effectively by taking notes in class and rewriting them later. Later in my years of high school I highlight passages in my readings and write them down on paper. I read over the notes repetitiously in order to grasp the information. In addition to being hands on learner, I am a bottom-up learner. I am a very detail-oriented individual who prefers to have a rock solid foundation built before I proceed to new challenges.
What I read is interwoven with who I was, who I am and who I will turn out to be. It is a way to gain perceptions on the world and a way to learn things that you would never know otherwise. The more you read, the larger your world becomes. Personally, I am and always have been an avid reader, and I would much rather curl up with a book than watch a film. However, the more literature lessons I attend, the less sure I become of how I interpret books.
By joining this English 101 class, I feel that I learned a lot of things. Though sometimes I did not understand some of the things that being delivered during the class, I feel blessed that I can learn on how to write correctly. I found out that I need to make a kind of brainstorming before I make the essay. After that, I need to make a rough draft, which will be
Should teachers of Literacy be readers? How important is this for the pupils they teach? Perspectives on the Importance of Reading in Teachers' Classrooms and Lives. “Reading furnishes the mind only with materials of knowledge; it is thinking that makes what we read ours.” John Locke (1632 - 1704) During my research for this assignment, regarding whether teachers of Literacy should be readers, I stumbled upon an article within a copy of Adolescent and Adult Literacy. Ann Powell- Brown solicited a straightforward but provocative question: “(2004, p284–288) The answer that was instantly retorted was ‘certainly not’, but after a moment, the magnitude of this question echoed within my mind and led me to stop and examine my own views and feelings regarding this, and furthermore, led to the professional questioning of how could teachers enable literacy if there wasn’t a love of reading?
I had to consult other students who seemed to have some level of understanding of what we were expected to do and through this peer learning model was eventually able to develop my own concept of what to do. Kolb’s reflective model highlights the concept of experimental learning and is centred on the transformation of information into knowledge. Guided by relevant texts on understanding research, I tried to apply it myself when reading the research articles and realised that I was already developing some understanding on reading research and evaluating the data. However, I still feel this is an area that I will need further support to ensure that I
Typically, I would go through and just read a piece of writing without taking the time to really look into the meaning/purpose and message. But this project really taught me to not be as oblivious and what to pay attention to. With that, I was able to take address a few learning outcomes; which among these are, Language and the Individual, Language and Social Relations, and Language and Belief. Instantly, I knew that I wanted to incorporate a poem when doing this assignment, but I had no clue or idea what one to pick. I read through tons and tons of poems until I found The Road Not Taken.
