Shaliyah Watson My interest in the Mastery at CCP program is a very well benefactor on myself and also my school. I believe that it is a good thing for me to be involved in because I know that I like to take on challenges and this well be on of the most important challenges that I have ever faced. Knowing that I am a hard worker and very dedicated into what I put my all into will be something to make myself proud. Also, I believe that the Mastery CCP program is a good benefactor for me because it shows a student’s like me that I have more independence them most up coming seniors. It gives me chance to show the people that would not think this is best for me that I can and I will make it. Through out my years in high school I show my best but I did not show my greatest. I have learned to weigh out my high and lows mostly my strength and weaknesses. I basically was a hands-on learner. I tended to learn more effectively by taking notes in class and rewriting them later. Later in my years of high school I highlight passages in my readings and write them down on paper. I read over the notes repetitiously in order to grasp the information. In addition to being hands on learner, I am a bottom-up learner. I am a very detail-oriented individual who prefers to have a rock solid foundation built before I proceed to new challenges. I want to learn the basics before seeing the big picture. For example, I have learned to use a thing called 5 steps annotation. This is something that my English teacher have showed me it is a better way to understand what you are reading and she always said “keep a highlighter, pen or pencil in your hand”. She always mentioned this because some people would just read a whole entire story and forget what they have read. On the other hand, I have a tendency to be quite shy in group settings.
