The beginning days of the American police officer started with no weapon, patrolled on foot, had no two-way radio, could not be dispatched through the 911 system, and had little to no education. The history of policing can help us understand policing today and what they are a product of. History can dramatize the fact that policing is always changing for the better. The American Policing is a product of its English Heritage. The heritage included the English common law, the high value placed on individual rights, the courts systems and the forms of punishment, and the different law enforcement agencies.
The British political system has no such formal separation of the powers. Until recently one person was a member of all three arms of government, since the Lord Chancellor was a member of the Cabinet (the executive), a member of the House of Lords (the legislature) and the head of the legal system (the judiciary). In the United States, because of the separation of the powers, no Cabinet member is allowed to be a member of the Congress. In Britain, every Government Minister must be a member of one of the two Houses of Parliament and, if he or she is not already in the Parliament, he or she is made a peer. This changed the way power was distributed within the government, due to the Constitution.
“Traffic deaths from drunken driving have fallen steadily, with those involving teenagers 16 to 19 declining by 39.1 percent from 1982 to 1990, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)”. (Clark, 1992). Even though drinking and driving is a crime thousands of teens continue to get behind the wheel and kill thousands of innocent people in alcohol related crashes every year. There are drunken accidents because teens don’t take drinking and driving seriously. Teens just want to feel the pleasure and they want to feel good but don’t think about the other people or even there selves that they can kill on the road.
For 40 years, people in New York thought they were governed by their elected officials—their city council, their mayor, their governor. But as Robert Caro revealed in The Power Broker , they were all wrong. Power in New York was controlled by one man, a man who had consistently lost every time he’d tried to run for office, a man nobody thought of as being in charge at all: Parks Commissioner Robert Moses. Plenty of sites on the Internet will tell you who your representative receives money from, but disclosed contributions are just the tip of the iceberg. As Ken Silverstein points out in his series of pieces for Harper’s (some of which he covers in his book Turkmeniscam ), being a member of Congress provides for endless ways to get perks and cash while hiding where it comes
The Journey through Law Enforcement Academy graduation day is the most blissful day in many recruits’ lives. After years of studying incipient recruits will conclusively, be starting their life dream, with commitment and dedication, to their incipient vocations as a law enforcement officer. Incipient officers seem to lose their pre academy amities from the commencement. Old friends will just drift away as a vocation in law enforcement takes their place. At the cessation of the 1st year, a new officer will often feel distanced from people they knew before the academy, since for the past year they fixated on new relationships with other officers.
Hernandez to a little town far from his hometown. He was the town doctor, and he was good at healing people but not good at listening. Mr. Hernandez’s was surprised when his boss decided to replace him but learned that town doctors not only to heal but also to educate, and more important are part of the town life. In the following assignments, Mr. Hernandez learned from his mistakes and after four years his boss, the one who fired him, retired and recommended Mr. Hernandez to replace him. As chief placement officer, Mr. Hernandez and his team worked more than a year in a new proposal and when were ready to present it to the hospital board, one team member started creating friction among the members.
Sitting in traffic is one of the worst time consumers of the day. We all dislike wasting our time sitting in traffic when we are late for a meeting or late for a sporting event. My parents have worked with the Department of Transportation in Pinellas County for years and this has been the steaming question for their whole time there “How can we make travel on our roads better and smoother?” Many of their associates have thought that maybe if they just expand the more traveled roads that the ride would become less congested. This may have worked in the short term, but what they did not expect was the 42% increase in population over the last 30 years (US Census). Over the last decade or so, the department of transportation in the Tampa Bay area has proposed and idea for a monorail type system for the main areas of business in St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and Tampa.
Each representative in the congress has a vast amount of what they are spending and each bill has to go through them first then get the last sign off from the president. The Congress can lay and collect taxes and deal with the indebtedness and
Matthew Cella, “Police Response to 911s Slowing,” Washington D.C.: Washington Times, May 10, 2004. Print. Can families really afford not to be able to protect themselves? Although there is no standard response time for police officials, the time to respond to a top priority emergency continues to rise at a rate upwards of 20%! Cella does an excellent job relaying the facts and using logos to pull in his audience.
Homeless people are filling the streets mostly because there are not many job opportunities being created. Our country needs more jobs in order to begin this so called, "Change." The next subject I will talk about is the environment. Let's just say that it's not the best. All of the factories out there are producing a lot of pollution.
