Today there is a special branch of the military specifically designed to handle any condition and any foe without hesitation or remorse. This specialized branch is so effective and well equipped today because of who they were in the past. They were built based on some of the strongest principles, allowing them to rise against any quarry when one, willingly or not, defied them and their beloved country. The early advances of the U.S. military required a special branch to combine all of its power into a superior fighting force allowing them to fight in any country, design and revolutionize weaponry, and help to shape the New American government as it stands today. The United States Marine Corps has been able to influence the opinions of countless

On each coast the Corp has a recruiting establishment, a base for infantry, supply centers and at least one large air base. The most famous depot is located on Paris Island, South Carolina, and another in San Diego, California. The training Marines go through set them apart from other military organizations. The way I like to think of Rank Structure in the Marine Corps is the way I’ve always heard it, “shit rolls down hill”. So basically I visualize a big hill with the commandant on the very tip top, and at the very bottom the Private who’s fresh out of boot camp. The way I see it is, that it took a long time to get up to the top of that hill. A lot of time, effort, blood and sweat was put in to getting their rank and holding it to the standard that they posses today. In result, they deserve respect.
As the United States shifted its attention to combat operations. The priorities concentrated on battle drills, physical conditioning and as time went on the military started promoting people quicker to keep Soldiers in the ranks and prevent them from ETSing from the military. This was to keep leaders, good or bad in the ranks. Basic Training, AIT, and NCOES courses lowered the standards to keep the flow of Soldiers coming into the army and graduation rates at an all-time high. This caused a ripple effect in the army as we promoted inexperienced Soldiers to Sergeant, these leaders were now training new Soldiers, this led to Soldiers not getting the proper leadership and not conducting inspections and other basic soldiering skills like haircuts, cleanliness & serviceability of the uniform and ensuring that good basic discipline was being upheld at all levels.
It is by far the finest book I have read, and it continues to impact how I lead. 2. We Were Soldiers Once … and Young by Harold G. Moore and Joseph L. Galloway Pete Kilner: I read this while at the Infantry Officer Advanced Course. I was struck by how Hal Moore and his commanders knew their Soldiers, by the things Moore did to create a winning culture and by how unpredictable war can be. Another big takeaway was that despite the brutality and emotions of combat, a leader must remain calm, see the big picture, and anticipate the “next steps” for his unit and the enemy.
Tom Gilmore EngWr 300 Professor Hawley 4 March 2012 Journey of The Few, The Proud, The Marines The United States is in a constant state of security from threats, and the world is only getting more and more hostile towards us. America needs to know that there is a blanket of security being provided for them at all times. America needs to know that the United States Marine Corps is that blanket of security. The United States Marine Corps (USMC) is branch of the U.S. armed services (part of the US Navy), founded in 1775 and trained to operate on land and at sea. Men and women from all over the world try their abilities of strength and courage to see what it takes to be a true Marine.
This was the closest we ever came to mandatory military service. Military service is defined as a branch of the Armed Forces of the United States, established by act of Congress. Our military service is composed of the United States Army, the United States Navy, the United States Air Force, the United States Marine Corps, and the United States Coast Guard. In 1917 the Selective Service Act was established in the United States. It was World War I that led President Woodrow Wilson to formalize the draft.
All of these men and women put their life on the line for the protection of a country that they love. It is important to them that when the return from the jobs that they are welcomed with open arms not just by their family but by employment opportunities as well. The journey back into civilian life is a challenge for many war veterans and there are many programs and people trying to get these heroes back to work, but for many they find it a challenging task. It is important to see how these Americans cope with these changes in their life, what is being done about it, and why this is the new greatest generation. Every day there are Americans departing for a war zone or returning from their most recent tour.
Military and Public Safety protect our everyday lives, while Teachers are the ones that give us the knowledge we need for everyday life. Military personnel definitely are the most heroic figure in my eyes. While people are here in American living the good life, we have soldiers fighting for our freedom, putting their lives on the line. Having two years in the National Guard, I have not had a chance yet at deployment. However, at all times I stand ready to accept the fact that I could receive that phone call telling me to pack my bags, I am being deployed.
